Rare orville99 Posted January 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Still served in Windjammer and the MDR. And on ships with a Park café, they serve it every morning there as well:)

We've experienced the same thing in the WJ - usually just on the first morning. After that it's usually out every day.

We've experienced the same thing in the WJ - usually just on the first morning. After that it's usually out every day. Two cruises ago (Allure), lox only on request in the WJ until halfway through the cruise, then it was out on the buffet. Last cruise (Explorer), there was never lox on the buffet in the WJ, but it was available on request. It obviously varies by ship and sailing. Tif1171 Posted January 14, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 14, 2015 On the Enchanment in November, they had it in the Windjammer, but I had to ask the "chef" behind the cold cuts counter. In the dining room they had it when I asked.
queenschick9b Posted January 14, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2015 What "section" would you ask in? I love a bagel with lox in the a.m. (even if the bagels on a cruise aren't the best :))
Rare orville99 Posted January 14, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We've always found it (or asked for it) at the station that has the "fixin's" for bagels - cream cheese, capers, etc.
nolesrule Posted January 14, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Never seen regular lox on a cruise ship. Nova lox? Sure.
boscobeans Posted January 14, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Never seen regular lox on a cruise ship. Nova lox? Sure. Hard to find these days. I make my own and portion it out into vacuum freezer bags. bosco
NikkiOh Posted January 14, 2015 #14 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We were on the ALLURE the beinning of Dec. and the only time they had lox was on Sat. and Sun., which were the last 2 days of the cruise. I guess we need to vocalize our requests on a regular basis! Nikki
papaflamingo Posted January 15, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Do they still serve smoked salmon at breakfast or am I " LIVING IN THE PAST" ? One addition, I've always been able to get it from Room Service also. Just order a bagel and a smoked salmon plate. It's definitely a nice breakfast for the balcony. When lox has not been on the buffet, there are likewise no capers out, though there may be onions. Partly because the bagels aren't great, I usually have mine with cream cheese on a slice of the dark, whole-grain rye that is available on the bread display. Jack&Laura Posted January 15, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 15, 2015 Lox/Smoked salmon was NOT out in the Windjammer on our Dec. 27 Explorer cruise. However, I asked the chef behind the buffet line EVERY morning and was able to get as much as I wanted.

roseshayit Posted January 15, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 15, 2015 I think one of my husband's favorite things about our last cruise on Brilliance (just a few weeks ago) was his lox with lox cream cheese on a bagel at Park Cafe. I didn't see it in the WJ, though and didn't think to ask.

Donna, if your signature is accurate, it looks like you have not been on a Royal Caribbean ship in more than a year and a half, except for the Quantum sampler cruise. This "hunting down the smoked salmon" thing is new in the past year. Unfortunately, I think that they just hope that if you don't see it, you won't ask. Cheapskates. :(
north29 Posted January 15, 2015 #22 Share Posted January 15, 2015 On new years cruise it was available in the C lounge and by request in the windjammer. Quite frankly my wife the smoked salmon person said that Sam's club smoked salmon was better. I guess they get different batches of the stuff at the volume they buy. Quite frankly my wife the smoked salmon person said that Sam's club smoked salmon was better. I guess they get different batches of the stuff at the volume they buy. I always see it in the Concierge Lounge. I think that this conversation is about the Windjammer. Or at least about the availability for the average cruiser. :) And yes, the quality varies.
