babs125 Posted January 27, 2015 #26 Share Posted January 27, 2015 I was on the Fascination in September and purchased Cheers. We only had to wait 5 minutes between drinks. Have they changed it to 15?
Budget Queen Posted January 27, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 27, 2015 Certainly this review is interesting. I have sailed the Glory twice and very much enjoyed it. But some of the complaints should have been known prior to going, the ship lay out, dining option times, many reviews of ship tours. With tours, especially some of your selections are far superior going independent, which may be an option next time. It also sounds like some of the tour complaints with tendering could have been avoided if you weren't such a new cruiser. Well, now you know Carnival isn't for you and Celebrity is your preference. Many happy cruises for you.
NHNEV2003 Posted January 27, 2015 #28 Share Posted January 27, 2015 We've sailed five cruises with Carnival on the Conquest-Class ships--Freedom, Valor, Liberty,Conquest (twice), and will be sailing on the Glory in November. We have enjoyed each and every trip, and I'm sure that we will enjoy the Glory. We've never had any major issues with food, service, or anything else on any of these ships. Also--we've never found it a big deal that you can't go front to back on two decks--we figured out that you take another elevator or get off at a different floor and walk down a few stairs. loubetti Posted January 27, 2015 #30 Share Posted January 27, 2015 Celebrity was, is, and never will be Carnival. It appeals to a different demographic. You don't expect a comedy club or burger joint or water slide on Celebrity, and not everyone needs such. Celebrity is not so much a "family" cruise, it's not Carnival or RCL, it' more like RCL's version of Cunard, without the British accent and 175 year tradition. No hairy chest contests on Celebrity either. There is really no comparison between Celebrity and Carnival, except for the fact that you are on a ship. You like what you like, and that's that. SMSACE6 Posted January 27, 2015 #31 Share Posted January 27, 2015 Yes indeed, you like what you like! I did like my one Celebrity cruise that was over ten years ago, but the "step above" was just not ever worth it for me thereafter. I found a cruiseline that I preferred, and stuck with it. And I have never attended the "hairy chest" thing. There are plenty of things to do, places to hang out if you are not into that scene. I dont know if this is the norm though, but I have to say that my one cruise on Celebrity had a lot of snooty people, and some were downright rude. I see a bit of rude on Carnival, but not much snooty, so I have found my niche:p As I have said to OP, how lucky they are that it only took them two cruises to find their niche. Sometimes it takes people three or four different cruiselines, and even then they discover that they are really not into cruising after all. So OP is fortunate in a way. Took only two cruises to find they prefer Celebrity over Carnival.
cruiser fanatic Posted January 27, 2015 #32 Share Posted January 27, 2015 I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy the Glory. Some of your complaints are valid such as the breakfast buffet and CHEERS package. However, some of your complaints could have been avoided if you did your research a little bit better. cruising maniac Posted January 27, 2015 #33 Share Posted January 27, 2015 You plan and plan and anticipate. You're excited and your family is excited and sometimes thing don't go as you would have liked. Don't give up on Carnival. Maybe another ship would be more to your liking.:)
RenoNanaOz Posted February 10, 2015 #34 Share Posted February 10, 2015 We are sailing on the Glory for the first time in April. We are very much looking forward to it so this review was a bit unsettling. However, each cruise is what you make of it. We've had some really great ones and some just ok but we were still on vacation. No cell phones, no emails and no work! We don't cruise for the layout of the ship, the shows or even the food. We cruise for relaxation, quality time together and meeting new fun fellow cruisers. I am also a bit OCD about research so we have always been happy with our excursions. I am still looking forward to the Glory and will be back in May to give my honest review.:)
t1adams Posted February 10, 2015 #35 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Inwas on the Glory in November I lov3d the cruise but the food in the MDR was blah and service slow. I had to walk out one night to mot miss epic rock. I hope OP you at least saw that shoe as it is good. Divas blah. The other two producion shows were decent and thr crew and casino were great. My only other gripe.was. the Karaoke machine was down. But I got to do Super Star Karaoke which was amazing. Agree the commedians fill up to quickly, but they also work better in small venues. Sent from my SM-G900P using Forums mobile app Agree about Glory food in the MDR. Worst food of any ship I've been on. Keeping in mind it was last spring break only four months into that stupid new menu they started. But the food was BAD. The other Carnival ships I've sailed on weren't that bad at all!! Service also sucked. Our scenic OV room had a huge crack in it going two direction. Glory is my least favorite ship. Liberty was my fave.
