Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 24, 2015 #27 Share Posted January 24, 2015 Thank you for showing! Were the other nights menu's similar or was this the "worst" menu? It certainly is very limited but I am sure the quality of what you get is better than what you get in Carnival....the choices were very limited on that menu although I have to admit I have the beef filet medallions, you won't find that quality on Carnival, never....maybe in the form of meatloaf :D Thanks for sharing it truly appreciate it!! The other ones were consistent with the menus from 2012. If you find the menu with the burger on the Always Available, you found the correct one. The only difference is the Caribbean Princess doesn't serve lobster on its Formal Night surf and turf, although, I'm sure a headwaiter can accommodate a request if asked 24 hours in advance. golfb4cruzing Posted January 24, 2015 #29 Share Posted January 24, 2015 You said relax and my opinion is biased, Princess hands down. No constant announcements and crazy crowds. But to be fair, I haven't sailed the Victory or Carnival since 2012. I'm fine with that though.

FrannyK Posted January 24, 2015 Author #31 Share Posted January 24, 2015 Thank you all for your opinions/help. Just booked Caribbean Princess for February 21! What put me over the top is CP has two specialty restaurants and the sanctuary interested me. Looking forward to checking out a new line and interested in the differences. Until then I'll be reading up on the ship and it's amenities.

PortSideCruzan Posted January 25, 2015 #34 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) Hi Franny :) I see that you chose the Caribbean Princess. During our last voyage aboard Princess back in 2010, we sailed on her for 18 days. Everything was fantastic, she's a wonderful ship! Have a terrific voyage! Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 25, 2015 #35 Share Posted January 25, 2015 If I had to be on a cruise that long you be sure it be Princess over Carnival...I can deal with Carnivals food (lets just say to me I rate the buffet lunches to just be fair and MDR dinner just good nothing more) for a week but longer than that I want to eat better quality. I also couldn't deal with the wait staff singing for that long ugh how I dread it even for a weeks cruise and I also rather have the larger balconies that Princess has over Carnival...for me if it were a 10 plus day cruise definitely Princess over Carnival. Although I love Carnivals casinos better but food more important. :D
Jenhem31 Posted January 25, 2015 #36 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) I had the Caribbean Princess booked for the end of March and just had to cancel. (Work related conflict) I must say I've never seen so many mixed reviews on a ship. Everything is subjective, and I would not have cancelled based on reviews, but I'm very curious as to why the mixed feelings. It seemed more intense than any other ship I've read reviews on. I think I would have been fine in it, I don't think I'll ever sail anything worse than the Paradise. Fortunately for us, we got a great deal on the Breeze and get to go a month earlier! sunlover5 Posted January 25, 2015 #37 Share Posted January 25, 2015 I would love to try Princess again, but I wouldn't pick the Caribbean Princess. I was expecting a notch above but just like any cruise, somethings were better, some worse and some just the same as other lines I have sailed. Not sure if they do anymore, but Princess also sang at evening dinner. Our maître'd also sang and he was an awesome singer!!! You will have a wonderful cruise...it is all of what you make it!! Jenhem31....I would love to cruise on the Breeze! Have a good cruise!

He sings every night in his dining room and on the final night, he visits every dining room to sing Con te Partiro. JMHO, but when I was doing my research to sail on our first Princess cruise, it seemed as if many Princess loyalists are not as forgiving as Carnival loyalists are. They know what the Princess experience should be like and many will quickly condemn any deviation from the norm. On Carnival, they could run out of food, the ship could be on fire, with a Norovirus outbreak, and the entire sewage system overflowing, all at the same time, and still, someone will undoubtedly say that it's still better than being at work. On Princess, it seemed that even something as small as the cabin bathroom's toilet paper holder being in a different place was a reason for condemnation by some. :o Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Edited January 25, 2015 by Tapi

Rare Tapi Posted January 25, 2015 #41 Share Posted January 25, 2015 (edited) To follow up on my last reply, these short itineraries are not what the average Princess cruises are like, which tend to be longer and to more exotic locales. The experience on these short itineraries is a bit "watered down" which tends to make some Princess loyalists frown. On our 4 nighter we didn't even have a formal night. When I booked our short Pacific Coast Getaway last year, I had several people on the Princess board "warn me" that it would not be the same as a "real" Princess cruise. Long story short, the cruise was absolutely wonderful, and since I didn't have other Princess cruises to compare it to, I didn't know any different. I wonder if that's the same reason why there are mixed reviews about the Caribbean Princess and its short itineraries. sunlover5 Posted January 25, 2015 #42 Share Posted January 25, 2015 That's why I would like to try Princess again. We did Caribbean P. cause it was what was sailing for Canadian/NE at the time but it was a 7 day. Sure it was different atmosphere also because of no pool activity etc. in Oct. We will try Princess again in June 2016 to Alaska. Must have been who we had in the dining room cause they loved to sing!!:D

Aplmac Posted July 23, 2015 #45 Share Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) . I've been on both ships and despite being a Carnival person I have to say that Caribbean Princess is by far the superior ship if only for that great open air Promenade Deck on 7. http://www.cruisecheap.com/c/deckplan2014.php?SailDate=&WMPHShipCode=153&DeckNumber=7 You will never get this kinda shot on Victory bcoz you aren't allowed anywhere near this area There is no comparison between Victory and Caribbean Princess. If it's the SHIP you want to experience, then the Princess option is the way to go. . Edited July 23, 2015 by Aplmac
Vitamin_Sea Posted July 23, 2015 #46 Share Posted July 23, 2015 I would have taken the Caribbean Princess cruise over CCL Victory. But dont worry, Carnival gets your money either way :)
