Activity Managers onboard Royal Ships

You didn't change the Vision back to Marvin Wilson. He is on the ship now

 

The only reason I did not was I got an email from someone who had a Cruise Compass for the 1/19/15 sailing that said Moe was the Activity Manager. I have reached out to a cruiser who is on Vision now to see who the AM is.

 

I went back through the dates I was given late last night.

Besides listing the AM's on board for everyone to know, I hope we can include in this thread some things that the AM's did that were interesting or funny or made an impression on us. Anything you would like to add, it is for the benefit of all. The AM's that I have seen work incredibly hard; some I have liked more than others, but every one of them works hard.

 

Keeping this list as up to date as possible, will require a lot of help from cruisers out on ships. Not always does a cruise compass tell the name of the AM, like it does the CD.

 

IF I miss something, I apologize; if there is some confusion, I am trying to find someone on that ship, that can help provide the information needed.

While this is a thread to list the Activity Managers on board, I will also hope we can add some stories about the impact some AM's have had on our cruises....so I will start.

 

On one of our earlier cruises, before we really knew much about cruising, other than we liked it my DH tried Karaoke. He has a good voice considering no formal training. The AM who was running the Karaoke event that night was outstanding, making the newest people to Karaoke (like him), feel like 'old timers' at it.

 

That's what they are all about -- making everything fun for all participants.

 

I so wish we could remember her name. On that cruise she ran one of the Bingo sets, and remembered him and they had more fun.

 

PLEASE keep sending me whatever information about the AM's on board cruises you go on or know people that are on. That is the only way we can keep this thread reasonably current.

Jeremie Guglielmie was the Activities Manager on the Legend of Seas in September. He was great, funny, very warm and had wonderful chemistry with the CD Topi. I just searched his name and he was on the Freedom in December.

Activity Director Marvin stepped up as Cruise Director for that one week since the Cruise Director Steve Davis went home for an emergency compassion leave to be with his family. Marvin is the Activity Director now on the Vision with Steve Davis as the Cruise Director. I know this for a fact since I am a friend of someone on the ship at this time and just talked to them Saturday.

One of the first times DH and I became aware of how much the AM could have an affect on a cruise, was when my DH was playing Bingo. The AM ran bingo for one of the games and then saw him later that night at she was doing Karaoke. After that she always remembered his name....just a little personal touch among the few thousand passengers on board.

 

Of course we can't remember her name....she was British, is all we can remember.

I am never sure what is more important on a cruise: activities/entertainment or food....or maybe activities WITH food.

 

I came upon a piece of trivia to share:

 

With (Her) Majesty going to be retired in 2016 I found this interesting. The Compass Deli, was added to MJ in 2007 when she got an extensive dry dock in Freeport. The Compass Deli was an experiment for the Park Café that was planned for the upcoming Oasis. Of course, the Park Café is now available on many of RCCL's ships and a favorite lunch spot. So look what Her Majesty started.

 

Does anyone know who the first Activity Manager was on Her Majesty? Or even if they had an Activity Manager back then to work with the Cruise Director?

From what I understand, this week some of the AM's are filling in for CD's who may be in the Home Office.

 

If anyone has updated information please share it. Darryll Dyball was supposed to be leaving Voyager on 2/5/15, so if anyone knows the AM following him, that would be nice to know. Anyone listed without a date next to their names, means that the information given to me, was from a cruiser on a past cruise with them recently, but with no additional information.

 

If anyone knows who has been the AM on Adventure recently please let me know.

Just a hint: Sometimes on the Cruise Compass when the "Morning Show" is listed it will mention that the CD is doing the Morning Show with the Activity Manager and list their name. Take a look the next time you cruise, and share any information you find.

Activities Manager on Allure is Michele Scarpato. He is very good.

Doing a Back 2 Back on the Allure now. Last week, Michele Scarpato was the Activity Manager, with Joff Eaton as the CD. This week, Michele is in the Compass as the CD, but no mention that I know about of Joff Eaton. I was wondering why, until I saw a previous post about the Home Office. Both are excellent.
