Ms. Fun Bunch Posted February 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2015 How was your stay in a 4K Cabin?
Ykgorbie Posted February 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) On our very first cruise (on the Pride) we were in a 4K, cabin #4200. While we could open the french doors for some air and to stick your head out, you couldn't actually go outside. And the lifeboats were obstructing most any view we had. We had been upgraded from an Oceanview, so it was ok, but I wouldn't intentionally book a 4K I don't think. Velvetwater Posted February 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) We have only ever stayed in a 4k as we love them so much! We booked one in between lifeboats so we had a sea view but I would still book one with a blocked view as you get natural light and the sound of the ocean. If you open then door, move the bed along then move it back you can wedge your window open and listen to the sounds of the sea as you sleep...lovely. We have only seen it once on our 2 long cruises but occasionally there might be a maintenance man working on the lifeboats. A thread here also mentioned the smoking decks are now starboard on deck 3 so it might be better to be on port side (we sailed before this took effect). The location is great too as its a few steps down from dining and the atrium. They also have a balcony layout :) love em! bigdog1958 Posted February 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2015 How was your stay in a 4K Cabin? I am sure I am in the minority, but I did not care for the 4K cabin. I usually book OV but tried a 4K on our last cruise, and I am now back to the OV. The view is so much better with an oceanview cabin then the 4K. I opened my door a couple of times with the 4K but that was it. I get plenty of fresh air up on the deck all day.

For the price, the 4K's are a good deal; similar in price to an interior room. Yes, they are obstructed views, but it is nice to be able to open the doors and get fresh air. Try to book one between the lifeboats to get a better view. We stayed in one on the Miracle and had a second one booked on the Pride, but due to an amazing sale we upgraded to a balcony and got OBC. I can't compare them to a OV as we have never stayed in one.

funinthesun1964 Posted February 1, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 1, 2015 We have one booked for the Pride this fall. Is the cabin the same size as a balcony or interior? The cabin is just like the balcony layout; but no balcony. Just a falcony! We stayed in 4140 on Pride and loved it. Hope to get this or a very similar cabin on our next Pride cruise. :) Happy cruising!
BigRed93 Posted February 1, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 1, 2015 They are set up like a balcony, without the actual balcony. We like them, they are a good value option, especially if you can get between the life boats. 3 out of 4 times we have booked them, we were able to upgrade through price drops. But I would still continue to book them. The price is right.

sjcruiser Posted February 2, 2015 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2015 We had room 4194 on the Pride, which is between the two life boats. This cabin was great for seeing out between the boats when in port, etc., and let plenty of light and fresh air in when we had the door or curtains open. The maintenance crew works outside on port days, but you'll be given 1-2 days notice, and a reminder when they'll be working (painting during our cruise). We got this room as a upgrade, during a last minute cruise, and will opt. for this 4K's in place of a balcony when we sail on ships in this class. kteachcruiser52 Posted February 27, 2015 #20 Share Posted February 27, 2015 we are on the Pride 4k room 4122 in Oct.........cant wait. I would love to see a picture of the view from that room when you get back. We have booked that room for a B2B (21 days). in January of 2016. We have never stayed in this type of cabin, but the lower price allowed us to do the 2 cruises: Baltimore to San Juan (11 days) and San Juan to Baltimore (10 days)
