Deployment Schedule 2016-2017. Let the guessing begin

What you are suggesting then (see highlighted red area) is that two ships would be based in Miami for Royal....a Voyager class ship to replace Her Majesty and move Enchantment to Miami to do 3/4 day ititneraries keeping Key West as a stop. Therefore you are saying that the Voyager class ship replacing Her Majesty would also be doing 3/4 day itineraries -- just without Key West as a port stop. Somehow I would doubt that Royal would have 2 ships doing 3/4 day itineraries out of Miami.

Or am I reading what you meant incorrectly?

I believe Hoopster meant that Enchantment would move to Miami to do the Key West itinerary, and a Voyager Class ship would go to PC and just do Nassau/CocoCay.

Vision of the Seas was just re-deployed in the past week to Europe, showing up at Riviera Ports, Venice and Kusadasi and her transatlantic was just booked yesterday with a call in Key West, Funchal and Malaga on her way to Barcelona.

A port agent calendar from Key West has indicated that Vision was the intended replacement for Majesty at the port of Miami.

http://www.calendarwiz.com/calendars/calendar.php?month=5&day=12&year=2016&crd=caribenautical&PHPSESSID=b9df65d7f42c76d02b80fd1c7a3d0fa7

They actually have booked a Miami ship past normal deployment and have the slot held until December of 2017.

While I am happy they had planned to leave a ship at Miami, the port calls have not yet been shifted to another ship.

If they have decided to bring Splendour over to replace Vision at Miami is still unclear.

Splendour was one of the first ships that RCI revitalized in the 'Now our best ship is every ship' renovations.

http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/General_Info/Flyers/12028421_Revit_QuickReference_Guide.pdf

Could it be that the decision was swayed by Splendour's success in the Brazilian and Latin American market along with having a Romero Britto Gallery onboard?

Brilliance will also call on Key West in November on her return TA and then every other Saturday throughout the Tampa home port season.

The only problem I see with replacing Majesty with Splendour is the fact that Majesty has a larger capacity.

That's exactly why I do see them replacing Majesty with Splendor.

Majesty last minute deals are almost always hitting rock bottom prices. With a slightly smaller ship that has more amenities than Majesty does, they could likely end that trend of bottoming out prices to fill the ship by simple supply and demand.

Good point, I don't follow Majesty's pricing, so I wasn't really aware of that.

I think more appeal then Majesty.

Absolutely, Majesty has almost no appeal at this point compared to the rest of the fleet and the competiton. She's been outdated for ten years and has almost none of the features that modern cruise ships do (larger cabins, specialty dining, balcony staterooms, concierge, adults only pools, etc.)

Splendour isn't larger than Majesty, but she has all of the above and a more modern design.

Not promoting the idea, just reporting. If Vision was planned she had capacity of 2514. Splendour has a capacity of just 2074 currently.

It could always be a three part transfer with Splendour freeing up the ship being sent to Miami.

Splendour could take Harwich, for instance, and free up the ship they were going to send there, if any.

I'm not promoting or against the idea either, I was just pointing out the problem that I saw.

Good point about a three part transfer. Maybe Enchantment to Miami (w/ more capacity) and Splendour to PC. Just guessing here...

While I was very impressed with Majesty and she is a very well run ship, Splendour or any of the options will give RCI many more revenue options.

That's a good point.

I see them putting the ship with larger capacity in Port Canaveral, though, due to the more central location (driving distance) to several other states, the attraction of Orlando theme parks, and the slightly higher prices the PC ships (Monarch and Enchantment) have usually commanded over the Majesty.

When you look at this way, IMO, it almost seems like a no-brainer.

The Jewel of the Seas should return to Alaska in May of 2016 if a clue left with the Monterey, CA port is an indicator. Jewel is booked through the agent for RCL on May 15, 2016 at Monterey.

She is not currently booked at Astoria Oregon, though.

If Royal was sending Freedom of the Seas to Europe I am certain they would not be booking under that name.

Maybe Independence = Freedom.

Why wouldn't they? It's not like it would be something revolutionary. She's just an older Independence and Liberty.

Thanks for the information! :)

That does not support my thoughts that Jewel will sail out of Harwich in 2016...

So for me, it is still a big question which ship sails from Harwich, if not Brilliance...

I do not see Freedom moving to Southampton? Why?? Navigator alredy switches to Southampton, and sice in 2015 Anthem is debuting from Southampton, I am pretty sure that RCI intends to deploy a Quantum Class ship from Southampton in 2016 as well...

IMHO Independence otS, listed in several European ports in 2016, is just a placeholder for Ovation... ;)

I find this thread fascinating. It is clear all of you have studied itineraries and ports enough to see the patterns. Thanks for the entertainment.

What makes me roll my eyes are a few Florida cruisers on this thread.

As if the world revolves around Florida. You need new ships because you are tired of the old ones. It is a shame you have so "few" choices. . . . OK go ahead and flame me--but, I just had to get that off my chest.

Well whatever makes you feel better, this is a forum to bost your opinions as that is what I am here for.

Florida is the largest cruise market, not New York, Boston, or even Baltimore and floridians expect the best from cruising we don't need to settle for anything as all cruise lines put their best.

The pricing is low because the market calls for it, 3 day cruises get filled mainly by locals, they want a good deal, what the cruise line gets out of it is a lot of onboard spending on alcohol

So, it was suggested to start a new thread for the new year (2016 - 2017)

What ships will be sailing where? Speculation welcome :D

Thank You Karen for getting this started:cool:

Carol:)
