Hairdryers...

Yep, wife used one on our first cruise. The combination of the hair dryer and steam from the shower set off the smoke detector in the cabin, which we did not realize until cabin phone rang, person on other end was the ships captain asking if everything was ok, then a knock at the door and 2 crew members with fire gear showed up. Don't believe she's used once since.

I always use it, but I have very fine, medium length hair. If I were trying to style my hair using it I would probably not, but I still use a curling iron for styling. The hair dryer is in a drawer and attached to the drawer. The cord is not very long so I would think it would be hard to use to style your hair.

I have a neuro-muscular auto-immune disease which causes rapid muscle fatigue. I have to use a band around the button to keep the dryer going. It irritates me that the dryer wont just stay on, so I bring my own now. I have long hair and the dryers are pretty weak.

You don't say which ship you're interested in as some ships don't have any hair dryers. Do you have a specific ship in Mind?

Really?? I thought they all had them. Does the Splendor have dryers? I told our group of 4 cabins not to bother bringing dryers.

Splendor yes. But not all ships do; the fantasy class ships do not; Conquest, Splendor, Spirit classes all do.

Anyone have any recent experience with the hairdryers in the room?

The ones we had last year on the Triumph were a freaking joke. :( I have fairly thick hair and at the time, it was longish (past my shoulders). It took over an hour to dry my hair properly and after the second day of that, I gave up because it was just too big of a pain in the neck.
