ridgecrest Posted March 2, 2015 #401 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Thanks for taking the time to share your cruise with us. I can't wait until July to once again sail on the Oasis. Great review!

Rare niksmom630 Posted March 2, 2015 Author #404 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Hmm, unfortunately I do not have to the two page portion of the evening planner for Day 2...strange, because I have them for all the other days.... This was the evening of the MTD nightmare though, so perhaps I tossed the evening planner subconsciously in an effort to block out all unpleasant memories after 6 p.m..... Diver2014 Posted March 2, 2015 #406 Share Posted March 2, 2015 I agree about the drink prices - when we boarded Oasis on Feb 21, we headed to the Pool Bar for 2 Pina Coladas and almost choked when we had to sign the bill for $24.80. Really? Then we spent another $23.31 for a Cosmo and Pina Colada at the Rising Tide Bar on Feb 22. I had a peach martini type of drink at the Rising Tide Bar on Feb 23 and that drink was $14.16! (and it only filled half of a wine glass!). Then another $23.60 at the Sand Bar for Pina Coladas - don't ask me why the price difference between the Pool Bar and the Sand Bar for the same 2 drinks. Doesn't make any sense. Then we were charged $28.32 at the Pool Bar for a Pina Colada and a Strawberry Daquiri. I give up. I had a Baileys Irish Creme straight up in the Opal Theater before Come Fly With Me and was charged $9.44 for what was one jigger of Bailey's. It barely covered the bottom of the glass. Oh well, RCI obviously makes their profits soar with the booze.
Darkwing28 Posted March 2, 2015 #407 Share Posted March 2, 2015 Brilliant Niksmom630! I can not thank you enough for this comprehensive review. It has been a great distraction while at work and a wonderful helf for me to prepare for my maiden cruise in May. I hope that you got home safely and those pups are surely happy now. :)

Based on the lack of comprehensive pricing on the drink menus, and inconsistencies with pricing, the drink package becomes more and more attractive. I found myself having two piña coladas early during the day at the pool, maybe a beer late in the afternoon, and a few glasses of wine in the evening. In the absence of having the three free D+ beverages, Had I had the drink package I would have added a few bottles of water during the day. By my calculations, that puts me at close to $70 per day...😳 Sent from my iPhone using Forums
vanrrr Posted March 3, 2015 #409 Share Posted March 3, 2015 We're there extensive drink menus available at other bars since they weren't available at the pool bars? Did they say why menus are missing?
Rare niksmom630 Posted March 3, 2015 Author #410 Share Posted March 3, 2015 We're there extensive drink menus available at other bars since they weren't available at the pool bars? Did they say why menus are missing? The menu I found at the pool bar, was the same menu I viewed in the casino bar, and boleros. Why they are no longer displayed, I don't know. It's basically a tri fold tent card, as I reported earlier. There is very limited per drink pricing on the menu, and much of the card contained information about drink package pricing. tobyt Posted March 3, 2015 #412 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks for this photo review, it reminds me of an awesome week last week! Just a couple of thoughts I wanted to add...CATS oh my I saw this in NYC as a teenager and remember it fondly, I guess it is more a rose colored teenage memory. While I understand there are limits on what works especially for copyright and appeal, this while very well done just does not translate well! We did my time in Silk last week with the wonderful Fred and Ricardo and lord after my first day back at work I am wishing for them to ask me how everything is! Food was quite good and we were lucky to find a nice area and moved beyond several tables both in and out of his section where he still continued to provide excellent service. The front staff tried to make certain we were happy and in our requested area and with our favorite server, we could not ask for more. The room was fine...the mattress and pillows not so much, I would have thought that dry dove would equal new and since the mattress was dated 4 years ago guess not. If I could this would be the number 1 change. The only other thing that kinds of annoys is towel check out...is this job security for someone since really the towels are nothing fab. Overall great week, weather which was top notch, great food, service and entertainment ( aside from cats loved comedy, diving, head liner show almost Elton, come fly with me). Just my thoughts now back to planning my next trip!
Diver2014 Posted March 3, 2015 #413 Share Posted March 3, 2015 I agree with tobyt on the Cats production onboard Oasis. I have never gotten up and walked out of a show before but came pretty close - thank goodness for the intermission (when half the audience left). Cats may be a great show in London or NYC, Andrew Lloyd Webber is a genius, yes but as a stage production on a cruise ship - not so much. Great costumes, beautiful set but oh what a sleeper. The music just about put me to sleep. Just not very entertaining. I would have liked to seen Hairspray last year before Oasis facelift.

Rare birdlord Posted March 3, 2015 #420 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks again for your information and pictures and reviews, etc. It seems like a lot of work! AFter your first night of MTD, did it get better? I noticed on our last cruise, the first night (on Celebrity) was just plain awful for those doing the equivalent of MTD -- mass confusion, long lines, etc. Not that our fixed dining time was going much better, but it seemed to be substantially better by night #2. Just curious if that was your experience on Oasis.
