Igo57 Posted March 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 9, 2015 Planning to take the 10 day cruise from Monte Carlo to Venice on the Marina, can anyone tell me how the weather is towards the end of October. Looks like a wonderful itinerary and we have read some wonderful reviews of this cruise line and ship. This will be the first of many questions to come! Thanks Much! :)
Rare Caroldoll Posted March 9, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 9, 2015 but on the Riviera. We have been there in the fall and it is delightful. No tourists to speak of. Some places are closed, but we would rather do that than be on the ship with a lot of tourists and children (I raised a parcel of them). I think you will love it. Bring something in case it rains (maybe). Bring a "brelly" as the people in the UK would say. Always a good idea.
Mura Posted March 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Igo57, have you checked for your roll call? You'll get much more information specific to your cruise there. It may not be set up yet ... I tried to find or set up one for an Oct '16 cruise on Sirena and CC hasn't yet added Sirena to roll calls, so I didn't have any luck. But if you are on any of the other ships, you should either be able to find the roll call or set it up yourself. I realize you are new here but it's not that counter-intuitive ... Back to the weather, we haven't been in this specific area in October but our first Renaissance cruise was in the Med, Oct 5-20, 1999, and weather was very comfortable. Then again, October further north can definitely be cool. (I'm thinking of a riverboat cruise we did in October '03, Amsterdam to Basel, where other passengers were complaining about the weather but it was exactly what we'd expected: jackets, yes, Fur coats no.) My guess would be that you're likely to have warmer weather than cool, specially given what Caroldoll said. Mura
SellaVee Posted March 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2015 Bring a "brelly" as the people in the UK would say. Always a good idea. Oh no they wouldn't. Although logic suggests "brelly" the term we use is actually "brolly". :).
Hambagahle Posted March 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2015 October shouldn't be too wet at all in the Med. (Now I said that, watch it pour!). Temperatures low 20°s and higher with warmer temperatures around Sicily and Greece, cooler in Liguria/Tuscany and Venice. Very pleasant weather, usually. A brolly - small folding one - is a good idea but you can always take one from the ship I suppose. October is an ideal time to travel in the area and it is really only on the Riviera that some places close - their "season" ends in September. Beach clubs etc will be closed just about everywhere though because children are in school so not enough people to keep them open. (Which is another reason that October is a great time to travel...) A “brolly” ;) is always in the suitcase … one never knows when a rain shower will arrive. Not too worried about some places being closed though, as long as there are not too many tourists. Of course going away while school is in session :) is a plus. Love children, raised a couple and took them many places, this one’s for us alone to soak in all the sights and delights! Mura No, I haven't checked for a roll call yet, figured it would be a little too early for that. Just in the early stages of planning and booking this cruise right now. Look forward to learning about everyone's experiences and insights in the coming months.
