Miss Pat Posted April 24, 2015 #51 Share Posted April 24, 2015 I don't think so, the food was good, children well-behaved, and the smoke mostly in the aft pool area and in the casino. I just never saw shorts routinely allowed in the MDR at night before this trip. Sail long enough on Princess and you'll see it all.
Miss Pat Posted April 24, 2015 #52 Share Posted April 24, 2015 I beg to differ! Would you like to have in your line of sight two hairy legs from an overweight man in his late-50's who decided to wear shorts at dinner with his wife? They were sitting at a table for two across from me on one of my cruises last year. It didn't add to the ambiance of the room. I really DO enjoy looking around the dining room to see happy couples who take pride in themselves and their dress. There's a certain radiance and elegance when everyone is dressed formally. But I think that's a concept lost on the Clampett's and the self-absorbed. I was inferring people dressed in long pants with a Polo not so much shorts. What about an overweight woman with a short skirt & hairy legs. I guess she gets a pass. :D

I guess she gets a pass. :D Nope, but you made my point. I describe exactly what I saw a passenger wearing: it clearly violates the Princess dress code. I was descriptive --without embellishing-- to drive home my point. It was not man vs. woman, nor slim vs. fat. The "she" you described would NOT get a "pass." Is your inference indicative of the Miss Pat Dress code: Long pants and Polo are okay, but you object to shorts? If so, then I deduce that you DO have standards for appropriate dress, yet they differ from the cruise line's. What's in place and documented is the Princess Dress Code "... for the enjoyment of all of our guests."
rbt001 Posted April 24, 2015 #54 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Half the people here complain about any dress code and insistthey will wear what they wish. The other half complain about them. The drums keep pounding a rhythm to my brain... So does it sound more like Sony & Cher or Britney? Personally I enjoy this song better than the "Whine about Wine" aka beverage policy and who's smuggled what.

I don't think it's 50/50. Someday someone with time to waste should analyze these threads and make a more accurate count. No, I'm not volunteering, LOL.) Either they were sitting on their head or you were crawling under tables peeping.
rbt001 Posted April 24, 2015 #57 Share Posted April 24, 2015 Welcome to the Princess CC family feud. You'll have lots of fun here. :D Thank you. Though, it's not my first go-round in this rodeo. However, now I'm more CAREFUL with my choice of words, as in the past, the "wadded panties with stick protruding" bunch have zapped my frank comments on this particular subject.
SoCal Cruiser78 Posted April 24, 2015 #58 Share Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) I find Tuxedoes extremely comfortable to wear... I agree, more so than a business suit or sportcoat and necktie. A cummerbund doesn't bind as much as a regular belt if I eat a bit too much, and a bow tie is lighter in weight and more comfortable, IMO, than a regular necktie. I will say, though, that I'm sure a tux is not as comfortable as the t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops I saw at dinner in the MDR on the Golden recently :(. What's in place and documented is the Princess Dress Code "... for the enjoyment of all of our guests." I don't care if others do wear shorts but I personally don't in the evenings. My husband & I dress to please each other & we choose dressy casual on all evenings we eat in the DR. It seems to be OK with Princess even on formal nights. If you care to follow the examples that Princess outlines then you'll be much happier for it but don't expect everyone to follow suit for your enjoyment. There are to many things to worry about in life to care what others wear to dinner.
chill6x6 Posted April 24, 2015 #60 Share Posted April 24, 2015 nope. Women can get away with anything on formal night and often do. I've seen dresses that i swear had previous lives as drapes and table clothes. The men get the short end of the stick on formal night. ^^^this!^^^

Many women dress inappropriate compared to the men. Anyone watch "This is as good as it gets"??? When they will not let him in the restaurant without a jacket/tie, but has he says let her in with a "house dress"!! Love that movie
