EMERGENCY on Independence

Just got off the Independence... Leaving Labadee a man was airlifted from the pier. We had to wait for a helicopter coming from the Dominican Republic. Anyone know what happened and if he is ok?

......I think his bigger problem is a hospital in the Dominican Republic.............;)

I was thinking that same thing!

A good sign was that he was wheelchaired off with his wife and luggage followed by a medical entourage. It would have been more alarming if he was in a stretcher.

Our captain said It was an hour helicopter ride each way. Hopefully they could relax for a moment and take in some amazing views.

I hope he had purchased E-vac insurance to get him back to the first world.....

Evacuation insurance is the reason we buy travel insurance.

 

Hope I buy it and never even get close to needing to use it.
