Beverage Package Pricing Increase

Recommended Posts

I imagine they have to pack a lot more Red Bull, bottled water, and other things with all of the classic and premium packages.

I don't think they will run out of LI Ice tea ingredients! It's basic well liquor-vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec. They would have a riot on their hands!

Understanding that they were staying at the $10 I still decided to call yesterday (Sunday) early evening to purchase the upgrade for our January trip. Took about 15-20 minutes in the call queue and the guy who assisted was really helpful. When I asked to purchase the upgrade he proactively explained the cost was not going to go up so they do have message points or a word track they are using in their call center.

Well they did ----on our cruise at the Sunset bar, sailaway.

You would think the bars would be fully stocked, especially on the first sail day.

Now I have absolutely no idea what the onboard upgrade price will be. I'm on eclipse on 7th may so going to ask

Re the stock, they often do run out first day. We found out from 2 of the bar staff we've kept in touch with that the stock is brought onto the ship but not put into the bars until once a week unless they do a special order. On silhouette last year it was Tuesday's

the bars manager on our last cruise explained that on sailing day the priority is to get the passengers luggage to the rooms. new stock of items they were running low on can take a while to filter up to the bars.

on the previous cruise they had a lot of Canadians onboard and ran out of Clamato juice.

he was amused that a brit (moi) asked for a bloody ceasar [emoji41]

I first came across this thread yesterday 5 minutes before having to leave the house for the rest of the day. Naturally I had no time to read the conclusion (which appears to be that you can still use your OBC to purchase an upgrade to the 123 promo offer of the Classic package for $10 plus 18% gratuity).

While out I spoke with two different customer service reps and asked them if this was the last day to upgrade at the existing $10 price before it jumps to the new rate. Both said that it was indeed the last day for that. They also both said that should I change my mind, I could cancel the upgrade up until something like 5 days before the cruise sails (August). So, rather than spend the extra $200 in OBC by waiting until the cruise, I paid for the upgrade via credit card.

Now it appears that I could have waited and used my OBC and still paid the old upgrade rate. The question I now have is that on the confirming email of the transaction it said that I can't cancel just the upgrade but must cancel the entire package and then rebook it. What are the implications of that? Will my perk of the Classic package still be offered? Will my initial intentions of using OBC be possible at the $10 upgrade rate be possible?

rjp50... you can get dozens of different answers here but they won't help resolve your problem... call Celebrity and explain it the way you did here and call til you get a rep with the answer you want.

If someone sold you that under the wrong impression, especially if they told you the upgrade was refundable, get someone to listen and ask for a manager if they don't do anything. Did you take the rep's name or at least know when you called? Good luck. I'm sure you'll get it resolved, if not by the general number, by the number given by the Celebrity Cruises rep. Just do a search of that poster in this forum for the number as they know what the latest news is.

Hopefully, everyone in Celebrity HQ and on the ships will read their mail soon and this crazy confusion will end. As it is, I am sure Celebrity bookkeeping is going to have to credit some folks back who were overcharged due to misinformation on board.

If anyone is told by a celebrity person (on a ship or just calling in to customer service or other) that the upgrade charge is more than $11.80 a day, please get their name and/or contact ID so that we can help "celebrity cruises" get everyone giving consistent information.

It will be interesting if some overpays on the ship using OBC since OBC is no longer valid once you get off the ship........ How in the world would THAT work?

Do you think they are beginning to understand the can of worms they opened with this? I know I will NEVER purchase a premium package at the new price. That is now almost $150 a day for the 2 of us! Ridiculous! That is about the price of adding a child to your room!

As Elite, unless we get a package as a perk, I may go back to BM at Elite breakfast, a glass of wine in the room and Elite cocktails in the evening. If we get a couple of Martini's or Molecular drinks each that would be about $50 per day, NOT $150!

I think they will find a lot more people at the Elite events, that's for sure. After that influx, the $8.00 may not seem like a good idea.

Good catch....that's going to be a real can of worms for their accounting/legal team. My guess is that they'll quietly issue a combinable OBC good for use on a future cruise to anyone who complains (enough).

Keep calling but DON'T cancel until you are positive they won't cancel the whole thing.

It was always my understanding that if you upgraded before the cruise the only option you had after that was to cancel EVERYTHING - that you couldn't just cancel the upgrade part.

If two reps led you to believe differently then, hopefully, someone will be able to stand by that.

Just be prepared to leave everything in place and take that $200 out from the casino on the ship. It will cost you $10 to do that and it might be your best (and safest) option.

You could have asked your TA or X to apply your OBC to upgrade the package instead of using your CC.

I waited till I boarded to use the obc to upgrade to the premium package.

If you cancel the 123go you will loss your classic beverage package.

You CANNOT use your OBC to pay for anything before you actually board the ship. (It doesn't matter if you call your TA or Celebrity - neither can/will do it.)

The reason it is called On Board Credit, is because it is credit to be used ON BOARD.
