happy cruzin Posted May 17, 2015 #51 Share Posted May 17, 2015 some one on another thread said it was on Key West night. Anyone takin' the 4 day to Key West and Cozumel cruise recently? Wondering when, if any, of the nights is formal night. Yes - I can confirm. We were on the 4 day sailing on 5.7 to Key West and Cozumel. Our Elegant night was Key West. Can you tell me about the best location for a coin and cabin type. It's me, my husband and our 4 year old. Any info is greatly appreciated ! Sorry, Im not sure what you mean about a coin. As for cabin type, are you thinking of a balcony? Or inside or ocean view room. Most people suggest midship cabins for less movement. But be careful what is above or below your room. Check out the deck plans. For instance someone recently said they had a room above promenade deck 5 and it was very loud from noise below. Also avoid rooms under the lido deck because of scraping of chairs being moved in the evenings and early mornings. Hope this helps some. I personally like the lower decks Riviera and Main, oceanview midship to back of midship, but I take forward port hole rooms too when I can get them, but they can be quite loud at times. KiddieKruzer Posted May 21, 2015 #55 Share Posted May 21, 2015 This ship should sail straight to the scrap yard!

Ship quiet enough with all these engine rattle complaints lately? thanks..sarah We were in 1055 in April... around the same time every night, 10:30-11:00ish there was a extremely loud rattle that lasted 1-2 minutes. happy cruzin Posted May 21, 2015 #57 Share Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) This ship should sail straight to the scrap yard! Why?? There are some that I would agree....but not the Victory. Edited May 21, 2015 by happy cruzin
sunlover5 Posted May 21, 2015 #58 Share Posted May 21, 2015 Kiddiekruzer....have you even been on the Victory? Your list of cruises doesn't list the Victory? We will be on her in November. Going with a positive attitude. I will be with with my wonderful husband, children, and grandchildren. Doesn't get any better than that. I have been on new ships, old ships, fabulous cruises, so so cruises....but we always have a wonderful time and I am so looking forward to this one....it is our grandchildrens first!!!!!!!!!!! KiddieKruzer Posted May 21, 2015 #59 Share Posted May 21, 2015 I disembarked today. Of all the ships I've been on, this was by far in the worst condition (aesthetically). If you are cruising for the islands and for family time and for price - you'll be fine. If the entire ship experience is part of your excitement , this may not be the ship. Rust was everywhere , tiles missing, mild in he bathrooms, our toilet over flowed 3x in 2 days. They finally replaced. Dirt and dust even in the buffet. We couldn't see much out of our balcony window from the dirt. On the 2nd day we received a letter that they were going to clean the balcony... It wasn't done. Even our door handle was rusted out to our balcony door The food was good and service was nice. The casino was small and smelled gross. Worst casino at sea I've been in. The decor was a HOT MESS. I'm wondering if after 15 years of replacing fabrics, tiles, etc just eventually became a hodge podge? I'm certain no designer could come up with some of that on purpose. But... My opinion is mine we all like different things about our cruise experience . I wonder what they did in dry dock? The front portion of the ship, upper decks were roped off and it appeared they were doing some work. Large generator of some sort taking up one side of upper deck. I don't know ship was not for me! There are a lot of other options. Good thing I traveled with a large group of women who were here to cruise and not sit and judge a ships appearance :)
sunlover5 Posted May 21, 2015 #60 Share Posted May 21, 2015 I can see your reasoning then....overflowed toilet YUCK..... and yes, if they say they are going to clean something, then it should be done. Can I ask what deck/cabin you were in KIddieKruzer??? Thanks!

KiddieKruzer Posted May 22, 2015 #62 Share Posted May 22, 2015 We were on deck 9. It was very loud because the loud obnoxious thumping music from the pool deck went non stop. All the drunks on the pool deck stumbled past our room to get on the stairway or elevators. Even with our room in a bad area, that didn't make a difference in my opinion of the ship overall. When I sign up for a Carnival cruise, I know what I'm in for. What I wasn't expecting was the disappointing ship.

Sorry you had a lousy cruise, your "drunks on the pool deck stumbling around" and "when I sail Carnival I know what I am in for" tells me all I need to hear. Enjoy your cruises, on whatever line you cruise.... KiddieKruzer Posted May 22, 2015 #65 Share Posted May 22, 2015 Oh no! I don't want to discourage you from taking a carnival cruise! My comments were about the ship. I've been on a few carnival cruises that were nice/tolerable. Understand that a lot of the "shorter cruises" tend to be "booze cruise" because they are cheaper shorter and older ships attracting the young partiers. If you are taking your young kids on this cruise, I'd look for a newer ship with more kids activities like the kids waterpark, slides etc. the Victory had one small kids pool but it was sectioned off and I saw adults sitting in it. One water slide. That's it. I took my kids on the Imagination and the waterpark for them was a lot of fun with multiple slides water spouts etc. they had the entire back of the boat. SMSACE6 Posted May 22, 2015 Author #67 Share Posted May 22, 2015 A couple of questions please. Who was your cruise director? How were they? And did they do movies under the stars? Also was there a tea time? Thanks:)
Hazelroo Posted May 23, 2015 #68 Share Posted May 23, 2015 A couple of questions please. Who was your cruise director? How were they? And did they do movies under the stars? Also was there a tea time? Thanks:) I don't remember the CD's name but he called himself "Donkey" He wasn't bad. Pretty funny and not very obtrusive. The ACD was a little annoying saying "shimmer" all the time. They did have movies every night on the big screen. The ones I remember are Mocking Jay, Night at the Museum (the new one), Guardians of the Galaxy...they had them every night though. I just checked the Fun Times and they did have tea time on both sea days at 3. I sailed May 11th, so that's when this info is from. :)
SMSACE6 Posted May 23, 2015 Author #69 Share Posted May 23, 2015 Thanks for that info. I think then it will be a different CD when I go in October, according to the latest CD schedule posted recently. But I will be ok either way. I have never done tea time. That is going to be a new one for me. Cant wait. And sometimes even though I think it is not quite the kind of movie I would like, it is just fun to sit outside and watch one. I will be spending less time in the casino, next cruise, so looking forward to this. Thanks for the reply:)
