linrns Posted September 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2005 Which side of the ship is best for viewing the panama canal from a balcony room if transiting from LA to FLL? We're looking at the Summit for Jan 07. I'm thinking the starboard side would allow us better views along the coast and more sun during the day. Any opinions? Mike2131 Posted September 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2005 If sailing south from LA to the Canal, port would seem to be a better choice. Starboard would probably more often be facing the open sea and the sunset. It might prove to ba a moot point. If you are like us, you will probably be on deck far more often than in the cabin anyway. As far as viewing the Canal transit, I suggest that you will want to be out of the cabin and moving around the ship for different views. There is no way to predict what lane you will be in, so the best views almost certainly will be on deck. We found the stern to be a great place to watch everything. Most everyone was massed up front, and we had the back of the ship pretty much to ourselves.
