luvsdisneyfamily Posted April 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Does anyone know what type of weather we can expect for a December cruise to the Bahamas? Will we need jackets when we are out on the deck of the ship at night? What about swimming at Castaway Cay? This will be our first cruise, and have no idea what to expect. Thanks in advance for the help!! :)
moki'smommy Posted April 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2015 December weather is variable. Most of the time it is exactly as you say--warm days, cool nights on deck where you will need a light jacket or sweater. We've been comfortable swimming at CC on all cruises except one, but that's a matter of personal comfort. If you come from Canada, it will feel warm. If you are from southern California, it will feel cold. We've done 10 cruises in December/January/Feb. Only one had too cold for comfort weather. new_to_this Posted April 15, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2015 I have no advice, but am glad you asked this because I am wondering the same thing! We are looking at a November cruise and I was wondering if it would still be swimming weather.
cruisefamilyforever Posted April 15, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2015 You can go to the Disneycruiselineblog and look at the Personal Navigators from past cruises on the timeframe you are considering. Each day they show the temperature ranges and weather forecast. This may help you plan. If you have kids and are from up north they will think the water temp is just fine. Trust me.:)
luvsdisneyfamily Posted April 15, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Thank you for the help! We are from Southern Illinois, so even 60's and 70's in December sounds good to us. I will definitely check out the blog.
moki'smommy Posted April 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2015 You can also look up average temperatures on line--just enter Nassau, Bahamas. However, weather in the winter is variable. It can be great one week and cool the next. Averages and past years will give an indication but will not tell you what it will be like on YOUR cruise. Remember that the moving ship will seem like wind blowing on deck.

BullDawg91 Posted April 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 15, 2015 We found it chilly and unpredictable enough after two cruises that we decided not to do it again.
monty913 Posted April 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 16, 2015 (edited) We sailed the Dream December 8-12 2014. Weather was not perfect. It was maybe 75 for one day, the rest were mid to high 60s. It was also very very windy. The first night we could barely walk it was so rough and we missed castaway due to high winds. We didn't hate the temperature because it was in the teens and 20's where we come from (RI), but southerners were wearing winter jackets. I am in no way trying to discourage going in December. We still had an awesome trip and seeing the ship decorated for the holidays was awesome/well worth it. Several people told me the weather we had was not the norm for that time of year, we just got an odd couple of days. I will say the captain did a good job at getting us to sunny spots when he could. After attempting to dock at CC he told us we were moving to better weather and he did. It wasn't perfect, but at least sunny. Edited April 16, 2015 by monty913
