djb6 Posted April 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2015 We will be in port in early June. We are traveling as large family of seven with a grandparent and four children ages 8-17 years. From researching, it looks like a private tour to Florence would involve extensive driving. Is there something we could do ourselves that would not involve large amounts of walking for the grandparent? I was looking at Pisa, Lucca or Cinque Terre. Is there any easily accessible transportation to those locations?
CruiserBruce Posted April 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2015 It is a very short (25 minutes, or less, depending on which station you get off at) train trip into the Cinque Terre. I would think the kids would like that, coupled with a ferry ride along the coast. It is impressive.
djb6 Posted April 29, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Thank you CruiserBruce. I will need to research that from La Spezia, but it sounds like a fun option. Where do you catch the ferry?
CruiserBruce Posted April 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted April 29, 2015 You can catch the ferry in 4 out of 5 towns in the Cinque Terre. Or you can catch it at La Spezia. Check this out: http://www.cinqueterre.eu.com/en/boat-excursions Or search for other info on the ferry.
