hfj17002 Posted May 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Hello, I just printed out my luggage tags from Carnivals website & have a question. How do you usually attach your tags to your luggage? Have you purchased something to put your tags in? Sorry, probably a dumb question, but I've never had to worry about attaching tags to my luggage. Thanks. Rodeomomof2 Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I have always just printed them out on the thickest paper or card stock that I have, "laminated them" with clear packing tape, punched a hole in them and zip-tied them to my luggage. Simple, easy and we have never lost them.;)
SSFlorida Posted May 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I cover mine with clear packing tape, punch a hole and use a plastic tie wrap to attach it to the luggage. It will not come off without being cut off.
AlycLiz Posted May 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2015 We use contact paper to keep it water proof and then just either staple it or tape it together. Works every time👌

Just put it around one of the handles and put tape on the bottom... Works like a charm!

Have you purchased something to put your tags in? Sorry, probably a dumb question, but I've never had to worry about attaching tags to my luggage. Thanks. I cut off the parts that say, "Do Not Cut." I have just the colored strips left. I fold them in half, write our last name on them, cover them in packing tape, and punch a hole in each of them. We attach them to our luggage with zip ties.
Carnival Cutie Posted May 1, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I am one of those people who purchased luggage tag holders from Cruise Critic. While it may not be necessary (as others have attested to) it makes me feel better. The one thing I would suggest is if you use one of the methods above that you include in your luggage some type of identification in the unlikely event your tag does get away from it. I put a copy of my luggage tag in my luggage when I fly and have to check my bag. I also have a tag with my name and address attached to my bag. So far I have not needed it but just in case.... justusfour2014 Posted May 1, 2015 #10 Share Posted May 1, 2015 My hubby just folds them in half, wraps around handle of suitcase and then secures them with clear packing tape. Last year we printed a brightly colored "Z" for our last name and laminated those and put them on our bags - easier to recognize.
makeda Posted May 1, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I have always just printed them out on the thickest paper or card stock that I have, "laminated them" with clear packing tape, punched a hole in them and zip-tied them to my luggage. Simple, easy and we have never lost them.;) that is almost exactly what we do....we use laminating sheets (I carry a couple for disembarkation and I throw a one hole mini-punch in my bag, too)...zip tie then and we are done! Rare finoky Posted May 1, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 1, 2015 I use simple regular ole printer paper. Have a very small stapler and attach them each handle on my luggage. About 3-4 staples per luggage tag. Have never had one come off yet.
Nilbog Posted May 1, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Don't forget to pack something that you can attach to the handles to make them easier to recognize in the warehouse of luggage at your debarkation point. When you get off the ship, there will be upwards of 9,000 pieces of luggage (depending on the size of your ship), and it could get difficult to see yours amongst the clutter. sandij Posted May 2, 2015 #16 Share Posted May 2, 2015 I laminate with packing tape and attach with ribbon that I though wouldn't break, but last cruise we had one missing and when I found it through customer services the tag was missing. So next time I'll use the zip ties. We also use colored electrical tape to put big H on our luggage and they are so easier to find.
volmoma Posted May 2, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 2, 2015 We put the net shower scrunchies on our luggage handles and you could spot those bad boys on the runway at the airport!!! We laughed once when we looked out the window of the plane and spotted our luggage!!! And they NEVER come off!! $1.00 a piece...we used to print our luggage tags and wrap them in contact paper. Attach with a few staples, never had a problem. But I did order some luggage tags from serendipity.com. Well made and cheap, I think about $3.00 a piece. We choose the 6 inch bands to attach it to the luggage the 9 inch we're way too long..

sandij Posted May 2, 2015 #21 Share Posted May 2, 2015 That is old day when they used to mail them out and had the peel and stick backs on luggagle tags. Well the Journey cruises are starting and supposed to bring back some of the old ways.

Both have held up very well to multiple cruises. Did you buy serendpity"s shower caddy? It is very handy.
scuabacruiser Posted May 2, 2015 #24 Share Posted May 2, 2015 Been a while? Oh and no pillow mints either. Sorry No mints? Our last cruise just a few months ago, we got mints everyday. Of course the kids found my stash and wiped them out.

Don't they mail them with your tickets still? Hope you're kidding. I don't think they've mailed anything in ten years. All printed off at home. I usually laminate and staple the ends together, looping through the handle. Clear packing tape works too. Did that once when we got upgraded after we had already left home and hAd to print new luggage tags in PC. I hope you know you have enter passport info and do pre boarding info on line and then print off your ticket contract and luggage tags. You also add cc info for tips and charges.
