SAILPRO Posted May 5, 2015 #51 Share Posted May 5, 2015 I got off the Sky yesterday morning. I was too full to eat my dessert at Cagney's, so they had it sent to my cabin. I originally asked if I could take it with me. They didn't tell me 'no'...the waiter simply said that he would have delivered to our room. I can certainly tell you from my very recent experience that they sent my dessert to the cabin. Kingofwylietx, did you checked your bill if there was a $7.95 RS fee, 'for your convenience'? :D
Kingofwylietx Posted May 5, 2015 #52 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Kingofwylietx, did you checked your bill if there was a $7.95 RS fee, 'for your convenience'? :D There was no fee on my bill. Full disclosure: We had a butler, so we were not subject to room service fees. I don't know how they would have handled the delivery to a non-suite cabin. Philob Posted May 5, 2015 #53 Share Posted May 5, 2015 From the USDA.gov website: Leftovers •Discard any food left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours—1 hour if the temperature was above 90 °F (32.2 ºC). •Place food into shallow containers and immediately put in the refrigerator or freezer for rapid cooling. •Use cooked leftovers within 4 days. •Reheat leftovers to 165 °F (73.9 °C). NMLady Posted May 5, 2015 #55 Share Posted May 5, 2015 . ...As an aside, is the pizza to your room still $5 or is it subject to a room service fee as well? Someplace in the fine print of NCL's announcement about the service charge fleetwide schedule, it says that pizza will only be delivered to your cabin, and will incur the $7.95 room service charge. So no more "$5 pizza delivered anywhere on the ship"? Doesnt bother me as Id tip someone to bring it anyway but the $5 pizza thing seemed like a good marketing slogan. wichitastatecruiser Posted May 5, 2015 #57 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Are we still allowed to prink cocktails back to the room or are we not allowed to do that because they're afraid that some of the ice might melt?
Kingofwylietx Posted May 5, 2015 #58 Share Posted May 5, 2015 We double-fisted cocktails back to the room. FYI - the UBP lets you get 2 at a time, on the same card. So, if the bar is busy or you want a cabin cocktail.....realize that you can get 2 per visit to the bar.

luvtheships Posted May 5, 2015 #63 Share Posted May 5, 2015 We just ate in La Cucina on the Pearl tonight. My son ordered the Pizza. He had 2 pieces and then wanted to go to Kids Club. He's old enough to check himself in. I asked if we could take the rest of the pizza back to the cabin so he could eat it after kids club tonight. They would not allow us to bring the rest of the pizza back to cabin. Such a waste of perfectly good food that would have been demolished by a growing 11 y/o boy at 10:30pm! What would they have said if you asked to bring it up to the lido to eat by the pool....where they fully allow eating as they have numerous tables for just that purpose Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Arzeena Posted May 5, 2015 #66 Share Posted May 5, 2015 if people stop tipping in the restaurants that are not allowing this, perhaps they will change their policies...however at this point, and i'm platinum, i don't feel any more loyalty to NCL....too much is happening that is really not in the interest of the consumer (is it ever being that NCL is a money making company?); however, Princess, Royal and Celebrity will be delighted to take my money too. Why punish the wait staff to get at the policy makers? We are also platinum. We enjoy NCL and don't always expect them to go overboard. Same with Royal. Kingofwylietx Posted May 5, 2015 #67 Share Posted May 5, 2015 Is this written somewhere? I don't know if it's actual policy or written somewhere. I can tell you that we regularly got 2 drinks at a time in Captain Cooks, Dazzles, and several other bars around the ship. We didn't know we could get 2 drinks with each card until the second day when the bar staff would tell me they only need 1 UBP card for our 2 drinks (mine and my wife's). Well then your experience was not what the majority of pax will see If your full disclosure had come in the earlier post that would have better and clearer True, it may not be the majority experience, but it was my experience. We had the UDP, so we only ate in the specialty restaurants or our cabin (breakfast). I didn't see the need to mention the butler until I was asked about the room service charge. I mentioned it then because I could see where someone may be charged, so I wanted to be clear...but I don't consider having a leftover dessert sent to your room to be the same thing as room service. That's just me, they are not equal in my mind. If I had been in a regular cabin and charged the fee, I would have disputed it at guest services. This thread is not about charges.....this thread is about getting food from a restaurant to your room. I'm telling people about our experience this past weekend. If you get a ***** bartender who says '1 drink per card'...that's not on me. I can only tell you that we were only asked for a single card per 2 drinks. The bartenders said that we can have 2 drinks per card.

DMH15 Posted May 5, 2015 #69 Share Posted May 5, 2015 I sort of see their point. On the other hand, there is some common sense issues too. Their reasoning that it's a health issue. If I order room service, dont eat it all and eat it later and for whatever reason, it makes me sick...isnt that the same situation? And why would it make me sick anyway? The food is already cooked. It's not like you're taking a Raw steak back to your room. If I paid a cover charge and was not allowed to take left-overs back, I might be more angry. I understood their reasoning to charge for pizza to cut down on waste but this would seemingly create more waste. As an aside, is the pizza to your room still $5 or is it subject to a room service fee as well? Food safety 101: proteins, raw or cooked held in the danger zone which is. 40 F to140 F is growing bacteria which can lead to food-borne illness. Cooking does not kill bacteria. old sole Posted May 6, 2015 #71 Share Posted May 6, 2015 Why would it make you sick? Do you have a fridge in your room? Not all rooms have refrigerators. By total numbers, more rooms are without them. Whether you agree or not, here is some info. First, your food arrives at the table for you to eat. If it arrives fresh and hot, you can start your stopwatch there. If you are like us, we take our time eating while on vacation, an hour is typical for us. Then, another 5-10 minutes to get it to the room. If you don't have a fridge, will you eat it then? Probably not, otherwise you would have eaten it at the table, not taken it back for consumption 5-10 minutes later. According to the USDA, you would now only have 45 minutes to safely eat it. From the USDA.gov website: Leftovers •Discard any food left out at room temperature for more than 2 hours—1 hour if the temperature was above 90 °F (32.2 ºC). •Place food into shallow containers and immediately put in the refrigerator or freezer for rapid cooling. •Use cooked leftovers within 4 days. •Reheat leftovers to 165 °F (73.9 °C). TOMTOMRN331 Posted May 6, 2015 #75 Share Posted May 6, 2015 I always prefer getting breakfast from the buffet and taking back to the room - hope this is the still the case when we cruise in January. Not being able to take left over's from the Restaurants is not a huge concern to me as there is always food available. Thanks
