Train lover Posted May 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2015 We will be taking a cruise on Regatta in Jan which ends in Miami. Later that day we leave on the QM2 from Fort Lauderdale. Does anyone know the easiest/cheapest way to get from one port to the other? Can we self disembark with our luggage from Regatta?
CruiserBruce Posted May 7, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2015 If you look on the Florida Departures board, there are many recommendations for shuttles, which is the cheapest and easiest way to do this. Self disembarking is a cruise line policy. I would check on the board (Oceania?) for the cruise line.
JTBCruiser Posted May 7, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2015 Check out this link http://www.ridesas.com/ SAS Transportation runs a shuttle between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. They have reasonable rates and positive reviews. It is best to contact them ahead of time to make reservations before you embark.
Rare LHT28 Posted May 7, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2015 Not sure if any shuttles go port to port You can book the SAS shuttle noted above to FLL airport then a quick taxi ride to Port Everglades probably $50 total Even if you are off at 9 am you could be at PE before 11am Ask on the Florida forum someone will know http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=
skandls Posted May 8, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2015 Check the FL board for private cars. They are close in price to a taxi. A shuttle may make a lot of stops. It is about 40 min without traffic - one Fri rush hour it took us 90 mins. We were glad we booked a car (at a flat rate) as a taxi would have been more money because of the traffic. You should not have to rush off the Regatta unless the ship has a late arrival. Check the arrival time for the Regatta and the departure time for the QM2. You should plan on being on board at least 90 mins before departure. For normal cruise ship early AM arrivals and 5pm departures boarding usually starts about 11AM.
