Slot Pull

We are planning to do a slot pull for our cruise critic group on the June 7th Pride. We are trying to find the best time to set this up. For those who have participated in one, can you advise what time you set it up for and how the actual turn out was?

Thanks

While I have not been the one to organize the slot pull I have enjoyed several.

I will suggest the second sea day late morning or early afternoon. This is day 3 of your cruise. If you have a large number of new cruisers the first sea day will still be getting to know the ship. Late morning or early afternoons are also better as the casino isn't as crowded.

I have only attended one pull organized thru a CC roll call. Unfortunately the turn out was low. I think everyone has good intentions before the cruise as far as planning things but by the time we board the ship other things catch our attention.

I was part of a social media network group for the Freedom Repo, that had about 100 active member (over 600 listed) that had great turnouts. We ended up having a slot pull almost everyday.

jakzak10 even though you didn't ask, there may be others that read this for hints. I am going to include a few points that help make the pull more organized:

Agree on the rules and post them on your roll call. That way everyone knows what is going on before the event.

Pick an amount, everyone contributes $10, 15 or 20.

Decided ahead of time after everyone has had their spin if your group will cash out then or set the parameters for everyone to have another turn.

Depending on the size of your group you may want to limit spins. I had a pull go on for almost 3 hours. It was too long.

Set the time and be very clear no one can sign up after the start.

I have never won much at a slot pull but it is a great way to spend an hour or so, enjoy the casino and new friends and not lose very much money.

Before you start you need to come up with a plan for who gets the tax form if you win over 1195.00..

Excellent point and whose S&S car goes in the machine. I read a thread either here or on "another social media site" that a participant was complaining that the organizer of the slot pull "got all" the points. I remember thinking maybe I don't want them in my sand box. Seriously 30 members X $20 = $600. At $2.50 per point the card received all of 240 points. You need 1500 for a drinks on us card. Hardly worth being concerned about.

You read my mind regarding whose S&S card goes in. There was a transatlantic cruise (can't remember if it was a CC based one of not) on which this occured and got very ugly here regarding that very topic.

I played in a slot pull and we set it up for second sea day (cruise day) at 2:00 pm. Originally had 32 sign up but 26 showed. (Approx. can't remember exact count) after everyone had their turn we each received our entry fee back less $2.00. Not quite sure why we did not keep playing, but I was not the organizer. It was quite fun!!!

Don't put anyone's card in

You need to put in a card to at least get the money out.

I was on a roll call that did a slot pull and we all agreed that the organizer would use their S&S card. It also helped that her card had no credits on it so all the money that was on the card was from the slot pull.

Earlier in the cruise is better for the slot. People will more than likely remember the day & time. Also late morning to mid afternoon is the best time as there aren't that many people in the casino.

I have only done a slot pull on another line...

but no one had to use their card, a casino host was there to help us out, keep track of spins, changed our small bills into larger ones for the machine ahead of time. I didn't even think about having to put in a card to get out the money (wishful thinking that there will be money to cash out!)

For those of you that have done them with Carnival, did you just do it on your own, or contact the casino to see if a host would help? Were there any additional "perks" like a prize (ship on a stick) or complimentary drink while playing?

I hosted one that ended up being around 30 people who showed up. One thing you need to plan for is how you are going to divide the money out if the amount involves change when it's divided. Basically, I had a spread sheet type thing, tracked who had the highest spin and then gave them any remainder over and above what I could divide equally (without any cents involved) amongst the players.

The other thing I did, to speed it along was a: recruited an assistant, and b: got a whole lot of small bills to take with me so that when it was over, it was easy enough to give people their winnings and they didn't have to wait for me to figure out what I needed and go to the cashier to get it. Also, a fun little prize for the highest spinner, which was a big chunky "gold" dollar sign necklace from the party store.

I am participating in a Slot Pull this weekend's Splendor 2-Day Cruise to Nowhere. We leave on Saturday and return on Monday. Here are the rules that were posted on our roll call:

The Slot Pull It will be on Sunday, in the casino @ 1130 am.

$21 to enter per person.

We will play on a $1 Wheel Of Fortune machine with a max bet of 3.

Every one will get 7 spins on their turn.

All money won collectively will be split between all participants.

If its less than a desirable amount, and we chose, we can play it back.

There is no talk about who's S&S card would be used. It never even crossed my mind. I hope it's not a big deal and the host just uses her card. I'm just hoping to have fun and meet some of the people on our Roll Call.
