euro cruiser Posted May 12, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2015 Are you determined to take a ship excursion? Most of these are within a few miles of the port and you could easily get there on your own, presumably for a lot less than they would charge you. pagnegirl Posted May 13, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Really, wow, how would I go about doing that? Are there cabs right there when you leave the ship? I know every port is so different.
CruiserBruce Posted May 13, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Cabs, perhaps train or bus, rent a car, private tour. All are possible with a little research on your part.
Rare Turtles06 Posted May 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2015 Cabs, perhaps train or bus, rent a car, private tour. All are possible with a little research on your part. Also, if you haven't already done so, join your Roll Call. It's the best place for sharing info and putting together a private tour. Enjoy your trip! euro cruiser Posted May 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 13, 2015 There are beaches within one train station of Civitavecchia so a beach day could not be easier on your own.
pagnegirl Posted May 14, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted May 14, 2015 Thanks for the heads up about the beach. Are there people there that speak english to help you get on the right train? Is there any shopping there?
Alessandrina Posted May 15, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2015 Thanks for the heads up about the beach. Are there people there that speak english to help you get on the right train? Is there any shopping there? There is a bit of shopping in Civitavecchia, not too much though (some clothing stores, tourist shops that sell souvenirs, jewellery stores, shoe stores, a market). Also be aware that the shops inconveniently close up from about 12:30pm to 3:30pm for lunch/siesta. Restaurants and cafes will be open all day. There should be someone to help you in English, just know what beach or train station stop you need to get to. Cheers.
