Rare John Bull Posted May 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 15, 2015 (edited) A heads-up for those planning to use the UK rail service, mainly affecting cruisers on Tues 26th May. Staff at Network Rail (that's the govt-owned company which operates the infrastructure such as tracks & signalling, not the train operators) have announced a 24-hour strike from 5pm on Mon 25th to 5pm on Tues 26th, after a positive strike ballot result. It's not for sure - negotiations are on-going - so if it affects you, check back from time to time. Or chicken-out now & book a coach (bus) at http://www.nationalexpress.com/home.aspx Affects all train bookings for that period, including Megatrain. Details at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-32748029 JB :) Edited May 15, 2015 by John Bull

Rare John Bull Posted May 16, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted May 16, 2015 Thanks for the heads up John. We need to use the tube from Heathrow to London on the 28th May and Megatrain on the 30th May. Fingers crossed all will be fine! No worries on your dates. And the rail strike, if it happens, won't affect the tube - its a totally separate organisation. Arbitration meetings scheduled for this coming Monday, fingers crossed.. JB :) ps - won't be able to update, off on a month-long US road trip this coming Tuesday, yeee-ha!! :) Will be combining it with missionary work - preaching to American motel operators about what constitutes a proper breakfast :D
