dreday3 Posted May 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2015 On Freedom of The Seas What do find you spend money on? Besides drinks (we got a package), excursions (doing our own thing, have money for taxis, tips etc.) and our tips are prepaid. I will have extra money for tips though. I feel, probably mistakenly :D, that we won't spend that much extra on this trip since everything is paid for. We even have $200 in on board credit to pay for specialty dinners... cb at sea Posted May 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 19, 2015 Gambling!! Even tho, on the ship, it's totally a losing proposition... We always bring more than we need...and we take it back home and stick it back in the bank! Better to have more, than not enough!

Ashland Posted May 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Really nothing...with the D+ perks we don't need to purchase the drinks package and don't use specialty restaurants...sometimes we have a hard time using any OBC we may have. But don't get me started on how much I spend on port shopping. Edited May 19, 2015 by Ashland
awestover89 Posted May 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2015 On our first cruise we bought a small suitcase (we ran out of room after some in port shopping), two drinks, one specialty dinner, and then the casino. Overall we didn't spend that much. Our next cruise I got the Classic Romance Package and Anniversary Decor, and I'm thinking of getting the photo package. Not anticipating buying too much more than that.

cruisingsince94 Posted May 20, 2015 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Other than the cruise itself and any costs to get to the port we spend almost nothing else out of pocket. We always get perks from our TA which more than covers anything else. Each of our upcoming cruises has OBC and a combo of other perks such as specialty dinner, prepaid gratuities, or a drink package. Our budgets are tight so the less we spend once onboard allows us to take another cruise faster.
sjb317 Posted May 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2015 If the cruise is more than 7 days, we may do some dining in one or two specialty restaurants. My husband hates casinos :D but I will give some small donations. Depending on the ports, we may purchase an excursion. I hate to shop so we rarely buy anything from the shops on the ship or in the ports. Our final bill on our last few cruises has been very small, less than $300. Mnamom1105 Posted May 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted May 20, 2015 specialty restaurants. Last cruise we did behind the scenes tour, this next one we are doing mystery dinner. I will do spa this time - have $$ saved up for it already. a shore excursion or two and some shopping.....

ridgecrest Posted May 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2015 We always get the soda package and this cruise, we will get the WiFi package. Other than those purchases, we will spend little; 1 or 2 non alcoholic pina coladas and a cone or two from Ben and Jerry's.
Rare LMaxwell Posted May 20, 2015 #12 Share Posted May 20, 2015 If we have a pet sitter, or someone checking our mail, etc., we will bring back a bottle of alcohol for them. There's not a heck of a lot to spend money on that appeals to me.
luvscruising2007 Posted May 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted May 20, 2015 We don't get a drink package so a few drinks, no more than 4 or 5 a day. Usually a souvenir from the logo shop, one or two pics and that 's about it. We prepay gratuities, excursions and specialty restaurants. We seem to have a final bill around $500. HiCSailor Posted May 20, 2015 #17 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Not that I recommend it, but the photo shop can eat some serious OBC. With a bit of planning, you can DIY and capture all the images you need on your own. I've also splurged on Mystery Dinner Theater and some specialty restaurants, which is a great (fun and tasty) way to enjoy saying sayonara to some OBC. grandgeezer Posted May 20, 2015 #18 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Absolutely nothing on the ship, all in the ports. The ship is transportation the real treat are the ports. There we spend like drunken sailors on shore leave.

Usually a souvenir from the logo shop, one or two pics and that 's about it. We prepay gratuities, excursions and specialty restaurants. We seem to have a final bill around $500. We only drink a few drinks a day as well - but after the recent alcohol price increases we did the math and it was cheaper for us to buy the Premium package. Break even for what we drink is 4 drinks per day, not including the bottled water we like. Other than drinks, we spend our money on duty-free alcohol that we give as gifts to family and friends, hubby always buys a t-shirt, and we usually pick up a ship-logo souvenir of some sort. Rare Lionesss Posted May 20, 2015 #20 Share Posted May 20, 2015 We are starting with $500 OBC. We will be purchasing an excursion for 3 on Cozumel on board... Do not know which one yet, but that is where the $$ is going. Even if we did not have OBC, we manage to buy stuff in the gift shop with the cruise logo on it. dplusd Posted May 20, 2015 #21 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Casino! We don't drink too much alcohol or do many excursions. We do enjoy a specialty restaurant once or twice a cruise. But all that is nothing compared to the casino. On my cruise budget worksheets...that is my biggest line item after cruise fare. But, that is one of the ways we have fun. dpostman Posted May 20, 2015 #23 Share Posted May 20, 2015 On our last cruise (4 days) Grats, Ultimate Bev package, 2 specialty restaurants were all pre-paid. we gave out about $80 in cash tips. We had $200 OBC and bought 2 bottles of liquor in the duty free, 2 bracelets for my wife, Ben & Jerry's and a few other odds & ends. At the end, we received a bill for $1.14 that we spent over our $200 OBC. Oh, and about $40 worth of souvenirs in Cozumel. dp
Paul65 Posted May 20, 2015 #24 Share Posted May 20, 2015 Gambling!! Even tho, on the ship, it's totally a losing proposition... Not always. I am not much of a gambler at all, but on my last cruise, there was a $5 casino credit left in our cabin for each of my wife and me at one point. We stopped by the casino for a few minutes, just playing the slots, and both walked away with more than we started with. (Not by a lot; I think I had $8 and change and my wife had about $12). We went the next day when we had a little more time, expecting to play until the money was gone. The wife lost hers within about 15 minutes. I was almost down to nothing, when I hit a bonus play and ended up with almost $70. Not a huge win, but considering I was only playing on the house's money, I figure that's pretty good. Decided to cash out and use the money for tipping some of the staff. As for what we spend money on, we probably wouldn't spend much at all, beyond what the OP already has covered. Might buy a couple t-shirts and perhaps a little bit of liquor in the onboard shops. We usually end up buying a couple of the photos, as well. So, I don't think I'd have any trouble spending $200 OBC, if I tried, but if drinks, excursions and gratuities were already covered, I wouldn't have any significant other expenses to plan for. Suzieanna Posted May 20, 2015 #25 Share Posted May 20, 2015 I probably spend the majority of my money in the casino. I have a budget of $40 and when that is gone - so am I - until the next evening when I start with a new $40 budget - ad infinitum................ I am bound to win big one day - aren't I????
