AEGBRG Posted May 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2015 (edited) Hi everyone, We will be tendered at Dun Laghaire and want to know the best way to get to Dublin. For those of you who took the train, what is the train station called and where is it located in proximity to Dun Laoghaire port, what is the best station to get off in Dublin (city center) , and how much is a round trip ticket? For those who took a taxi, where do you catch it, and how much is the cost to get to the Dublin city center? For those who have taken Celebrity, do they offer a shuttle? Thanks in advance. buddha'smoo Posted May 21, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 21, 2015 The DART station is a few minutes walk from the port terminal, depending on where in the city center you want to go, your should leave the train at either Pearse Street or Tara Street (south of the river) or Connelly (north of the river). It takes approx 20 mins to reach Tara Street from Dun Laoghaire, the DART runs every 15 minutes. It's the most reliable way to reach Dublin City, not sure on the price of a taxi, but given that traffic can be temperamental, I'd advise against it. buddha'smoo Posted May 21, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2015 The price of an adult day return on the DART is €6. A taxi is approx €50 (according to (worldtaximeter.com) As a local I'd advise the DART, and you also get a fairly great view of Dublin bay. CI66774 Posted May 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 27, 2015 Just did this a couple of weeks ago. Very easy. Three minute walk to station along path. You will see other people walk that way when you disembark - just follow them. Take the DART to the Pearse Station (very central) and have fun. Just be sure you look at the DART map to get on the right train going back to the port. Incredibly easy and efficient. Best way to get to Dublin, IMHO. Mairnealach Posted June 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2015 If u want to go to city hall what's the best stop to get off Tara Street is the station you want, thence it is a ten minute walk to City Hall. On exiting the station, the river Liffey is directly in front of you across the busy street. Turn left and cross Tara Street. Continue straight ahead, the river is on your right side all the time, for a hundred yards or so until you reach O'Connell Bridge. Cross Westmoreland Street and continue straight ahead, passing two pedestrian bridges over the Liffey on your right, until you reach the green coloured Grattan Bridge. Turn left into Parliament Street and City Hall is in front of you. The Queen of Hearts café, opposite City Hall, is a good place for a coffee. The walking tours start from Barnardo Square beside the Hall. Dermot

Mairnealach Posted June 2, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 2, 2015 Where is the best place to catch the HOHO bus in Dublin and what stop would we need to get off the tram that would be most convenient to picking up the HOHO bus? I would get off the DART train at Tara Street station and pick up the green HoHo bus at stop 1, outside the Dublin Bus office in O'Connell Street. This is a five minute walk from Tara Street. As it is the first stop, you get the whole tour and should also be able to snag an upstairs seat and, if there is a threat of rain, an undercover one at the front of the bus.
