Total Eclipse : A pictorial review of the Tradewinds Transatlantic crossing 2015

Recommended Posts

Neither was Isaac. He served about four drinks a week to the same two couples. Still, I didn't know that Princess re-used the "Pacific Princess" name!

Doc was pretty crap as well, always hitting on the passengers/patients.

My favorite Isaac moment was him serving Kris Munroe on the Love Boat Angels episode . It was from the Charlie's Angels 4 season , Episode 1 , but Love Boat +Charlie's Angels = a marriage made in heaven .

In this episode they introduced their newest angel , Tiffany , who replace Kate . She had married , went on her honeymoon , and became pregnant ! Kris was most like my own little angel . :D

We were concerned about the transportation running on island time and perhaps missing the boat , so we had very modest plan . Beginning with the world's smallest draw bridge .

When opened , it has room for a single mast to wiggle through .

IMG_5487_zpsqwhqhoqq.jpg

The bridge doesn't go up , only the center , wood section is flipped up .

IMG_5497_zpswumyvhu3.jpg

While we were there we shot a video clip of a a small boat coming through the narrow opening:

Our next stop was here , and a hike up steep Gibb's Hill , to the lighthouse .

That's a newer incarnation. This is the "Love Boat". We went on our first cruise on her in January 1974.

Yeah I knew that but I like humming it anyway. Also watch reruns occasionally. 😀

Some folks made it all the way to the top

IMG_5522_zpsm8rao9mi.jpg

From the base of the lighthouse we could see that 3 buses from the cruise ship were here . In the distance you can see the Eclipse if you look carefully .

Same photo enlarged

Walking down the hill to the bus stop , here's the view

Some hurricane damage , a cracked roof .

And finally , a video clip of a bus ride toward the port :

It was noon when we returned to the Dockyard and we wanted try some of the local fish chowder and Wifi . The chowder was much better at The Spot , downtown . With it's commanding view of the harbor , the National Museum of Bermuda , was our next stop .

IMG_5484_zpskoxx8tlf.jpg

It's $ 15 p.p. admission .

IMG_5485_zpsjxjwxl8t.jpg

We were disappointed to find out that the main museum , the Commissioner's House , was closed .

IMG_5572_zpsnnheelmz.jpg

There is also a Dolphin pool in the Keep .

IMG_5611_zps2rthuvb5.jpg

If you walk the upper grounds you will soon notice Sheep remnants . We soon found the culprits .

IMG_5614_zps80iqs8uz.jpg

And their progeny .

The dolphins are very friendly in Bermuda

IMG_5482_zpshavpmo6i.jpg

And the view from the rampart is splendid . The Pacific Princess

IMG_5599_zpsfosp27l3.jpg

The Eclipse

IMG_5585_zpskuvhf8qp.jpg

These flowers grow all around the island

IMG_5632_zpsgxtw9ebg.jpg

We walked over for a closer look at the Princess . It sure was nice to not have a bunch of security restrictions .

IMG_5637_zpsafx8b7r4.jpg

And a final look at the Eclipse's sleek backside before final boarding in Bermuda .

Great pics again. How disappointing the main museum was closed, I hope they informed you of that prior to paying entry or was the museum going to be extra.

It's was time for all good things to come to an end , but I'll never forget the morning of our last day , when the light broke thru the clouds .

After pushing off , the engines came to life

A video clip of the sail away :

I loved the beautiful blues and green as we sped through the channel

I loved the different colors of the sea too as we left...assumed it was reefs or shallow areas....sure seemed like there were buoys that marked the channel in and out for a long time....Bermuda was beautiful..sure hope we can go back again sometime....can't wait to see the rest of your pictures.....:)

The flowers in the above picture are Gladioli, one of my favourites. They bloom in UK in late August/ early September. They are one of my favourites, as they don't give off a strong perfume ( I suffer from Hay Fever)

Nice, some lovely yellowy greens coming through as well, possibly disturbed sand from the props.

Thanks Gracie , two thumbs up in agreement concerning Bermuda ! If memory serves me well , we were so taken with the sail out that we forgot about dinner - for a short time . We waited until we could no longer see land , knowing that it would be 4 days and 4 nights before we saw land again .

Close call ! You can see by the large wake that we were moving pretty fast at this point . And how near we are to the shallow area !
