mediccruzin Posted June 8, 2015 #51 Share Posted June 8, 2015 Want to talk about a slap in the face? I have 2 Journeys cruises booked and paid almost $4,000 for them. Now I hear people saying they are getting VIFP offers for them for free. That is a slap in the face. After these cruises, I think my Carnival days are over. Ouch:(
love my grandkids Posted June 8, 2015 #52 Share Posted June 8, 2015 If they charge for each bottle of wine brought on they will encourage us to smuggle.
USNUZULOOSE Posted June 8, 2015 #53 Share Posted June 8, 2015 As time goes by they may get tougher on people who get caught smuggling as you are cutting into their profits. That is just MHO, don't shoot me for thinking my mind.

elliair Posted June 8, 2015 #55 Share Posted June 8, 2015 If they charge for each bottle of wine brought on they will encourage us to smuggle. With the price they charge for a glass of wine, I'm already encouraged to smuggle.
BigB0882 Posted June 8, 2015 #56 Share Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) I would be fine with not allowing carry on water because they now have it priced very reasonably. I would be fine if they did the same with cokes so long as they reprice those as well. I can't see them doing away with carry on wine. People are very particular about their wine and they don't carry a single bottle of wine that I like to drink. Not that their wines are bad, I just really like "my" wine. I don't have any more cruises booked with Carnival at the moment so if the announcement is too and then I just won't be booking with them next time. I'm already trying RCCL for a Baltic but I will try another line for my next Caribbean cruise as well if Carnival pushes hard enough. Whatever it is, I hope it isn't drastic and doesn't start until after my cruise on the 21st. I already have my bottles of wine purchased and pack of diet coke ready to go! I'm going to hope for the best (that it's just water) and fear the worst (no beverages at all). Fingers crossed.

BTromboneFrack Posted June 9, 2015 #61 Share Posted June 9, 2015 I'm so easy going that I find everything wonderful on a cruise. I'll drink any water and I prefer ice tea over pop. AND ..I'm not a wine junky. However, IF THEY TAKE MY ABILITY TO BRING A BOTTLE OF WINE ON, I'll be upset. Wine just tastes a lot better on a cruise ship balcony. It's a treat, and after spending thousands of dollars on a vacation, one bottle of wine seems reasonable. Their policy won't make me buy their wine --- Wine on board is really expensive and my generic tastes don't justify spending anything on it. PLEASE CARNIVAL, don't micro manage this small indulgence. BenjiRodney Posted June 9, 2015 #64 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Maybe they will offer some Pepsi products and I wont have to stop at Walgreens in Miami and carry it on with me.
BigB0882 Posted June 9, 2015 #65 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Or maybe they will have tiered packages like RCL. One package just for sodas, one for cheaper drinks then another for almost every drink and finally one that covers everything, soda and alcohol. That would be fine by me no matter the price because none of those packages are worth it for me. I got the bubbles on my first two cruises but realized I didn't drink the 3 diet cokes a day needed to break even so why bother? I could have if drink service wasn't so slow at dinner. ATHENA3 Posted June 9, 2015 #67 Share Posted June 9, 2015 (edited) They didn’t lower the price of water for nothing or should I say lowered temporally. Sounds like a water ban brought on board. Edited June 9, 2015 by ATHENA3

Raxter54 Posted June 9, 2015 #69 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Coke Freestyle machines installed on Carnival ships? They have a few on Royal Caribbean ships, the ones that don't go overseas. That would increase the flavors of pop offered (Mr Pibb would make my wife happy). I would buy the soda package if they had more variety in flavors.... Carnival Cutie Posted June 9, 2015 #72 Share Posted June 9, 2015 It just occurred to me that the change could have to do with the new powdered alcohol. I've heard Congress is trying to legislate it. Think about it, how could they stop you from bringing powdered alcohol on board if they have no way of knowing how it's being smuggled? Or if, for that matter. I have yet to see it available for purchase in my area but I am looking for it to see if it's something I want to consider. A lot less cumbersome than rum runners.... And I've already purchased my $2.99 case of water from the Fun Shops so that's all I need.

ready2cruzagain Posted June 9, 2015 #74 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Those are casino offers. No they aren't. People are getting them that state they do not even gamble. How can you say they are casino offers when one does not gamble and gets the offer?
winddawn Posted June 9, 2015 #75 Share Posted June 9, 2015 I'm totally fine with disallowing water to be carried on. Hey, even soda. But mess with my champagne and I'll be upset. I love my mimosa with room service in bed. It means "I have zero responsibility today, I'm drinking before my feet touch the floor!" Like.
