Rare POA1 Posted June 22, 2015 #26 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Do you need to be a multi-star Mariner in order to get this magazine? I don't think so. If you don't get one in the next few days, call the Mariner number and request one.

Krazy Kruizers Posted June 22, 2015 #28 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Our Mariner magazine along with the Koningsdam brochure arrived in the mail today. DH is looking at it now -- I will get my chance later. So far he says that he is not impressed with the ship.
sail7seas Posted June 22, 2015 #29 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I wasn't impressed when Eurodam first entered the fleet until we boarded her. We booked to sail her out of curiosity to see HAL's newest ship, at the time, and were so pleasantly surprised how much we liked her right away. The biggest drawback on that class, IMO, is the narrow passage between the Lido serving line and the row of tables. There simply is not enough room for comfortable passage or for those sitting at those tables. Aside from that, there were few things about Eurodam I don't care for. :) Hopefully, I'll feel the same about Koninsdam.
serendipity1499 Posted June 22, 2015 #30 Share Posted June 22, 2015 We just got our "Summer 2015" issue yesterday.. Us too. The World Cruise marketing package came on Friday. Have not received my Mariner Mag yet but did get the world Cruise Maketing Package yesterday.. Unfortunately we, here in SW Fla are the last to get all mail.. If it doesn't come this week I'll give the Mariner Society a call.. Thanks Copper for the heads up!
Krazy Kruizers Posted June 22, 2015 #31 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I hope that the picture of the tables and chairs shown in the picture for the Culinary Arts Center dinner are just a "drawing". I would not want to sit on them for any length of time.
EbayCruiser Posted June 22, 2015 #32 Share Posted June 22, 2015 We received ours today. We are excited to be sailing on her 11/13 out of Ft. Lauderdale for the 10-Day Southern Caribbean. :)

Will not book the Koningsdam, as we only book outside cabins or a Lanai & enjoy sitting out on the Promenade Deck.. :( Since, our view would be restricted by Lifeboats, the new ship is not for us.:(

It's not going to be 100% of the way around that is like that... not to mention the other public decks that will also have tons of lounge chairs, etc... rkacruiser Posted June 22, 2015 #38 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Thanks to my travel agent, I received the Koningsdam brochure. But, as of yet, no Mariner Magazine. The artist's drawing of the World Stage Theater does not jibe with the deck plan diagram for that room. The deck plan shows seating completely around the stage while the illustration does not show that, but does show a continuation of the large LED screen. Anyone have an explanation other than there must be seats in the area covered by the screen and that will not be used all the time? My first impression after looking at the deck plan: anyone who enjoys the layout of the Vista and Signature Class ships, with the possible exception of the lifeboat placement, will enjoy the Pinnacle Class vessels. That's exactly it, the stage will be "in the round" for some events but it can be a typical stage (ie cover the seats that are "behind" it) for others. Which makes perfect sense so it can be used for a myriad of events or whatever.

I've also heard there's a flexible arrangement where they can have one of I believe I heard 3 or 4 configurations in there based on the needs of the performers

pv girl Posted June 23, 2015 #44 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Canadian Mariner magazine and Koningsdam brochure arrived today.... and it looks beautiful - love the lighter, brighter decor in the staterooms - now to choose an itinerary looks like more food options, so even with more guests, crowding shouldn't be an issue

cruisinjudy Posted June 23, 2015 #46 Share Posted June 23, 2015 Ours arrived today. It looks too big. But for the most part we did enjoy the newer Celebrity ships which are large. We shall see.
Rare ken4556 Posted June 23, 2015 #47 Share Posted June 23, 2015 It may just be me, but the deck plans do not show a lot of bars on decks 2 and 3. It looks like the sports bar has been eliminated off the casino as well as the nightclub (compared to the Vista Ships). Music Walk seems like a neat concept, but I wonder if that area will get very congested as it does not look real large. That leaves just the Ocean Bar and the Crow's Nest, if you count the Explorer Lounge as part of Music Walk. With the number of extra passengers of the ship, I would assume that you would put more bars in-place and not less. I am personally not a drinker, but our family always enjoys hanging out before dinner and after the shows. It does not look like a lot of options are available. pris993 Posted June 23, 2015 #48 Share Posted June 23, 2015 There is a 360 degree promenade. It just in portions becomes narrow to allow for the lifeboats. We will know how they handle it more in a few months but it won't be a wide open relaxing deck, the chairs will be more aft. The days of open promenades are done, and not all because companies want to screw over the pax. You can get a little sense on this photo from late March. Thanks for the photo... have taken 3 cruises on the Celebrity ships built the same way, walked on the promenade only once day, just not the same experience... generally I spend several hours a day on the pomenade so that is why I will stick with the ships that have this area - one of my favorite places to be on a ship. Luckily there are still a lot of options out there.

When DH saw the new ship flyer - he was very disappointed. He said that HAL was losing the "intimacy factor" (that is what he enjoys about the small and medium sized ships). Guess we will just stick to the smaller ships when we do our cruising. We are doing the Statendam in middle of August. This will be our farewell salute to the ship.
