belle2 Posted June 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2015 My PVP says there will be a sale next week. Anyone wanna take a guess at what it might be??? I'm looking to book the May 8th, 2016 sailing on the Breeze. It's $450 pp for a cove balcony for my family of four in early saver. Should I book now or wait to see what the sale is? belle2 Posted June 21, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted June 21, 2015 The only thing stopping me is the deposit! It's a hefty one. Is there ever an opportunity to book ES with a reduced deposit or is it generally one or the other?
elliair Posted June 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 21, 2015 I'm waiting, I have until 6/30 to book and get 10% cash back on my Discover card for booking a cruise. It's a nice sum of money as we always book a balcony.

Is there ever an opportunity to book ES with a reduced deposit or is it generally one or the other? Our last cruise on the Breeze we booked wth ES and they were running a promotion that week for half off deposit. I don't know how often that actually happens though. islandatsea Posted June 21, 2015 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2015 We know, those deposits are a lot of money. We hope Carnival has a reduced deposit sale soon.
Eeyore_Lover Posted June 21, 2015 #7 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Just remember that if you book ES with a reduced deposit and then submit a price drop request prior to final payment, the rest of the deposit will then be due immediately. Happened to me once...
belle2 Posted June 21, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted June 21, 2015 Thanks eeyore! I knew there was a catch to that whole half deposit thing but I couldn't remember what it was.
love my grandkids Posted June 22, 2015 #9 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Thanks eeyore! I knew there was a catch to that whole half deposit thing but I couldn't remember what it was. That is why we book based on the price not worried about deposit.
JillySue Posted June 22, 2015 #10 Share Posted June 22, 2015 We booked ES a couple weeks ago on a $99 deposit sale. It's our way of hedging our bets. We are trying to start a family, but if we are unlucky, we have a cruise to look forward to! If we are lucky, we cancel and lose $99. That's $ I'd be happy to lose :)
DaiLina Posted June 22, 2015 #11 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Hopefully it will include the 'final payment not due until 30 days before sailing'... haven't seen that particular sale in a while...
bubbles4ever Posted June 22, 2015 #12 Share Posted June 22, 2015 We booked in January on the $99 deposit sale. A few weeks later put in for a price drop, got it and didn't have to pay the remainder of the deposit. But each sale is different I guess.

Carnival Cutie Posted June 22, 2015 #15 Share Posted June 22, 2015 If the issue you are having is the amount of the deposit I would wait a few days. Worst case scenario is that you'll have to put the amount of the deposit you expected, best case scenario is there's a smaller deposit due. Your sailing date is almost a year out and it's unlikely all the cove balconies will be booked that quickly. In either event you'll still be able to book Early Saver and be eligible for price drops later. Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

Are you sailing out if Galveston? I was reading through the boards and several people were upset because after they booked the Breeze out of Miami they were notified, days and weeks later, that she is moving to Galveston after the May 1 sailing and replaced with the Splendor. Also, we got a price drop on our Nov. Breeze sailing that was booked on the $99 deposit promo and we're not asked to pay the remainder.
belle2 Posted June 22, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted June 22, 2015 Yes sailing out of Galveston. I heard about the switch. I hated to hear of so many vacations bring ruined but I'm excited to have the Breeze in Galveston earlier than expected!

lizardhowson Posted June 22, 2015 #22 Share Posted June 22, 2015 I swear, I get an email from Carnival almost everyday about some great sale or another. This ^^ But only a few sailings are reduced. For most, their "sales" amount to no savings.

AmberTeka Posted June 22, 2015 #25 Share Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the information. I am looking to book a cruise for next summer and I have been waiting for reduced deposits too. Even 50% would be nice. I would BOOK today if they offered it today. Hint to the casino..........another offer would be nice, too. Dear Husband always spends a good deal of time with your staff.
