I have not heard that number, if it is pure losses then that's a lot, if it's that amount in points then that seems low. I think on the machines it's about 5k in gambling to get 1000 points. I did not really think the looked at the win/loss amount just the points and I know, that to get the 4800 points that is a lot of gambling.

the 8k was in losses not points.

FYI CR members:

CR just informed me effective immediately, any bookings made on board on any ship, will not be able to be transferred to CR for any CR discounted cruise fares. I asked why the change, no reason was given.

Also, for those that may not know this, which has been in effect for quite a while, Guest Services will allow you to make a courtesy call to CR while on board.

I just got screwed by this new policy. They won't let you apply the cruise certs to the bookings made onboard previously either, even if you never used the OBC. They let me use the first cert from my b2b as a one time exception and wouldn't let me use the second one on a cruise I booked onboard in april of 2016. It seems sort of unfair to apply this retroactively. I can understand new bookings made after the "announcement" of the policy but to apply it to something I did months ago, when it was allowed, seems needlessly punitive. I'm calling it an "announcement" because they only told me about it to deny my the use of the cert. I'm supposed to cancel the existing reservation and rebook at current rates. Of course the rates are higher and I'll have to waste an hour or two with the TA and pay their cancellation fees too. Might be cheaper in time/money to just toss the certificate.

just off of harmony.

I went on the first day for the sticker for the 5% waiver and was told that i wasn't eligible for one. I told 'em no waiver no play. 15 minutes later they came back with a sticker and a lame apology.

At the end of the first week, they gave me a cert for $750, when i went to ask them about it, they gave me a lame apology and another one for 1000.

At the end of the second week, they gave me a cert for $100, when i went to ask them about it, they gave me a lame apology and another one for 1000.

I can't believe the 900 difference. I lose enough that they don't need to be trying to screw me every chance they get.

They told me that the minimum for an obc is 8k in losses. Anyone know if that number is right?

I heard it's in that ballpark of 8K, maybe a little less.

I had no problem booking (my one and only booking) on board in October and then coming home transferring it to CR and using a certificate. Maybe because I don't use a TA, I like to have control over my bookings in case I need to make a change to a sail date or a room category. Don't know why you can't have the TA call CR to get the casino rates without you having to cancel your booking? You have to call CR and give them your TA's name and approval for the TA to call on your behalf for casino rates. Best of luck to you.

i've had no problem doing what you're suggesting in the past. book onboard transfer to cr after, then to ta and use a cert when received. with their new policy what they are saying is if you've booked onboard, regardless of whether your res is with now with CR or a ta, u can't apply a cert. to use the cert you have to cancel the existing res and get a new one. this is why i'm annoyed. they implement a new policy and make it retroactive. i can understand them applying this to new reservations or people who used the extra obc onboard but to have it apply to every res no matter how long ago it was booked and when the obc wasn't used, is just plain unfair. i didnt use the obc onboard and it was cancelled when i got the CR rate so I received no extra benefits. I know that they need to close a loophole but why should I have to cancel my reservation, booked nine months ago, and reprice my cruise and pay a cancellation penalty with my travel agent to utilize a benefit that was earned by spending thousands in the casino during a cruise?

Usually once someone hits 1500 points, they are issued a sticker for free drinks in the casino. Did you book through CR?

I have no idea if the casino rate is available to the NC agents. I was told a while ago, that Anthem was going to have a CR agent working on board at the NC desk, but that never came to be.

I always book through CR, but only made a booking on board in October because we were on a B2B then and found out on the 2nd day there may be the CR Bermuda Golf event in May. CR always hires Andy Avery to sing in the casino on their Golf event sailings, they twisted my arm and I had to book that sailing

:D;)

Just off B2B Navigator - Beach Bash and Holiday Party cruises. Andy performed during Holiday Party cruise and he announced he will be performing on 5 day Golf Tournament cruise (Bermuda) in May on Anthem. Linda - you are fortunate you can drive to the pier...

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for the heads up :) We have the May sailing booked already :D not aware of the March sailing. Where are you seeing the Golf excursion? I just FB him and will try to get his exact dates and I'll see if CR could look into the dates for me.

Have a wonderful holiday and hope to see you guys in the coming year :)

not sure if this has been discussed before but here goes. Doing a quick 3 nighter on Ovation in February 2017. If I receive a certificate can this be applied to a 17 night cruise I have booked for March 2018. The March cruise has been heavily discounted already and not sure if I can apply further discounts. I have never used these certificates before as they have such a short time span on them so normally contact my 'casino go to man' and get most cruises comped. Only have to pay $1200 usd for the 17 nighter so a certificate would just about cover that. Cheers :):)

I'll have to admit. It's late here 11:16 pm and I just scan through some of the post looking for a phone number to RCI Casino Royal program or how to contact them. Will be sailing Allure in April 2017. Thanks so much in advance for and of your help. :)

Call CR and ask them, I've used the certificates for 2 of our 12 night sailings in 2018.

I was just told that the certs can only be applied to new bookings. Yes, I've used certs on existing bookings before but they won't let me do it now.

Another CR change  I just added a cert. a few days ago to an existing 2018 sailing, what will they think of changing next

With the new program still changing (egads) there are ongoing program changes. For many of us who have been CR members for years it is frustrating that one day you can use something and on next call you can't. I miss the old program and this still in flux new program has several people I know very upset. Not having answers is not the fault of those who answer the phones but whoever is now in charge of marketing CR.

Same here. I was told that it couldn't be done, and then my travel agent reported that it had gotten applied to an already booked sailing that was technically past the one year timeframe.

I appreciate that Club Royale is making these exceptions for us, but it's gotten to the point that we're expecting these exceptions, and that's probably not fair to us in general when they start trying to enforce their (hopefully well documented and publicized) policies in the future.

  • 2 weeks later...
Just off Brilliance, had a good time. Shirley is doing great, I really don't understand the customers who think the hosts can change the rules that have been given by headquarters and then try harassing them to change them. Saw it happen a couple of times. New change to the diamond plus rules, you no longer get the 25 percent off for tournaments. Still giving out the free cruise certs from the last quarter. We had hoped they added something new, that last quarters ship listing sucked.

Just wondering until what month/day Shirley will stay on Brilliance.... My cruise on May1st :)

I was on your same sailing. Too bad we didn't know or we could have met. Yes the tournament benefit is no longer listed on the D + benefits list. I didn't know this til I asked Shirley for a comp entry and she said no more, across the fleet. My friends decided to go to the cashier and ask for the tournament discount and they GOT it lol. I don't think Shirley knew about that.

One thing new I noticed - Shirlley was nice enough to give my daughter a sticker on her card and when she ordered a drink from the bar, she signed an invoice like she was being charged. It was a 70 or 75% discount , about $4.59 charge for a vodka and water. However the charge was to Club Royale, not us.

Sorry if this info has already been shown here....thread is too long to read through and I know things have changed and also need current info ASAP....

This is specific to Royal Caribbean ......

How do the Casino Cruise Certificate ($ off) work? Mr. Ski was awarded one on a recent sailing. He understood from the Casino Host that it could be applied to any sailing booked. TA says it only applies to bookings done through the Casino Royale desk at the casino rates. We have no idea how this works and I have read (but not paid enough attention obviously!) that there have been program changes recently.

All info from anyone with recent experience with this type certificate greatly appreciated!

TIA!

We received the certificates as well and were told we had to book through the casino and the fares would be in US funds, we are Canadian, and we couldn't apply the certificates to any current cruises because they are booked in Canadian funds. I hope This information is helpful, we are still trying to figure out the program, and maybe some more experienced casino players will have some input. Good luck!

I do not know if anyone has posted the new rules for using the certificates for discounts on cruises previously booked.

Unfortunately I found out the hard way, as CR has yet to inform us.

The changes were done in early December.

Please don't shoot the messenger !

I am a CR VIP and have been for several years. I am also a high D+ and travel solo at 150 per cent single supplement, and cruise many times a year, with many B2Bs, and am on Anthem right now.

CR will no longer allow the 150 per cent single supplement.

All changes made to any booking, whether it is a casino discount, certificate dollars off, or price adjustment will automatically be done as a repricing, at the current price (also dropping off the 150 percent single supplement, if included).

Since applying Certificates will only be done as a repricing, potentially the price of the cruise can increase thus reducing the certificate discount.

In addition the booking must not be a booking made onboard, or an open booking, booked onboard. If it is - no certificates or casino rates will be applied.

For solos like me, casino rate is now higher than booking thru Crown and Anchor - and certificates and the casino are worthless.

I earned 2 certificates in December and had to have a supervisor adjust my cruises, but was told that was an exception, and they will not do that again going forward.

As an example, a 750 certificate value that I earned onboard, would have dropped my cruise by $20, because of the repricing and elimination of the single supplement discount and the increase in the original cruise fare.

For the moment (their words, not mine) they are allowing single promos (like Anthem), senior rates, resident rates and promo rates, provided no crown and anchor discounts are imbedded in the price.

In a nutshell - crown and anchor rates and discounts, next cruises and club Royale are mutually exclusive.

As far as I know, they have yet to inform us of these changes.

I'm hearing a lot of the same kinds of things. The biggest issue for me is whether or not they will allow me to apply a cert to a booking previously made with a casino rate. In the past I have had no problem having the certs applied to an existing booking that was made through CR. In fact, I had 2 certs applied to the same cruise earlier this year. If they don't allow me to use the certs with a casino rate booking then the certs are effectively useless to me.

I will be disappointed but not surprised if this is now the new "rule".

With all the changes that they hit me with - the one thing I wasn't told was that casino rates and certificates were mutually exclusive for previously booked cruises.

I was explained that it wasn't - but in my case, those cruises that I had previously booked with a casino rate - were either from a future cruise certificate booked thru CR (which they consider being booked onboard) or had the 150 solo supplement that froze them from certificates, or the cruise price went up since it was booked, but my previously booked cruises were not frozen because of the casino rate.

I saw on a previous thread that they are now allowing C&A discounts and C&A rates to get certificates. I hope that is true and that includes the 150 percent solo discount - it wasn't true when I was working with the supervisors at CR at the end of the year.

You must be luckier than me. I earned a certificate on my Nov sailing and they would not let me apply it to my future cruise on the Harmony as I already had a certificate used on that booking.
