bronco6411 Posted July 18, 2015 Author #26 Share Posted July 18, 2015 Not enough time to really see anything of rome. If you want to save some money use the train. Don't go all the way into Roman termini station. Save a lot of time and a whole lot of walking, if you transfer to the Civitavecchia train at Roma Trastevere station. If you have been to Roma Termini before, you surely will know that the "binari"platforms for the two trains are at least a 10-15 min walk from each other, and you are going into central Rome. Another plan is just simply grab a taxi van to Civitavecchia from the airport that accommodates everyone. Go directly to your ship and enjoy your cruise. Maybe plan a few days post cruise to see Rome. Arriving same day for your cruise is quite a risk. Hope it all works out. Sounds like a plan. thanks for the advice. Nebr.cruiser Posted July 18, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 18, 2015 Look at Bob's Limo service in Rome. We have used them several times and they are great, I believe they charge 135 Euros for 5 people in a van.. and they drop you off at the check in spot for your ship..happy cruising Fiumicino Airport to Civitavecchia Book € 70 for 1 Book € 85 for 2 Book € 105 for 3 Book € 125for 4 Book € 135 for 5 And as others have said you really only have a 5-6 hour window, not worth the trouble;; We've used Bob's Limo several times too; much better than using the cruise transfer, and much cheaper. Rates above are about what we paid. We have also used the train from Citivecchia to Rome; a little more complicated from the airport, but not much. You have to be able to handle your luggage on the train, though; it wasn't too bad, but not easy either. We have come into the airport for a Med cruise in the early morning; really, after an overnight flight, we wanted nothing more than to get to the port, get on the ship and crash. Trying to work in a Rome tour, IMO, is just too much. As others have said, you would have limited time in Rome. The only way I'd try it would be to book a Rome tour by car that will pick you up at the airport and get you to the cruise after a few hours in Rome.
