In answer to your above post before you edited it, click the links I gave you above http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2229728 and http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2230236. Once each thread is open on your screen, scroll to the top you will see they are each on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! forum at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163. My first post in the first link http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2229728 tells why the thread was moved.

For more information about moved threads from/to any Cruise Critic message board forums, please read the Sticky titled Posts MOVED to where and why? at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=23408616 on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! forum.

Please note the following from the 2nd link http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2230236 I mention above:

... Just as a warning, if it happens to you DO NOT click on anything. Do Control-Alt-Delete to open task manager and shut down the browser and then just reopen. CC has done an excellent job keeping this garbage out but as I stated these things happen. It will not damage anything by backing out the way I said.

Also the following from the same thread:

... I don't think it's cc's webpages directly. It's probably the ad affiliates on the pages that they have no control over. You get some slime that figure out how to inject it into the ads. The company that controls the ads going out have to be complained to so that they can get rid of it...

And now, two of your fellow Cruise Critic members have given you additional information about the situation as I quoted above. Especially the information from crazyfrazee about a temporary fix you have already used as follows:

"... Do Control-Alt-Delete to open task manager and shut down the browser and then just reopen..."

As a lowly unpaid volunteer down here in Texas, I am "out of the loop" for the goings on in the New Jersey office. As mentioned in each of the thread links I gave you, the paid Staff works regular weekday business hours. We volunteer Hosts/Moderators are on the boards as our real lives permit. We are here trying to help "direct traffic" by following the Moderator Handbook given to us by the Community Manager. And as I mention in each of the threads, I directed you and others reading the thread to the correct e-mail address for the situation as follows:

... However' date=' in this case, please note the following portion from the current Need Help? Contact Us at the bottom of all Cruise Critic Message Board pages:

"... For help on any of the above issues, or technical assistance contact help@cruisecritic.com..."

In the http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2230236 link, I also gave this important information:

... be sure to send your e-mail from your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record and include your user name. Also' date=' please furnish information regarding your device, browser, error messages and as much detail as possible...[/quote']

As for this being the last time for you to advise us mentioned in your post pre-edit, have you received ANY of the previous Reply to Thread subscription notification e-mails sent to you advising you to send your e-mail with the requested information to help@cruisecritic.com?

Per one of the Moderator screens I see you have Instant email notification as your Automatic Thread Subscription Mode setting. If you are NOT receiving your Reply to Thread subscription notification e-mails sent to your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record, please read the Sticky thread titled Not Receiving Notifications By E-Mail at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=6241198 on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! forum. Perhaps all the Reply to Post subscription notification e-mails are in your Bulk, Junk, or Spam mailbox for your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record. The thread will explain what you need to do on your e-mail account with your e-mail service to prevent that from happening again. Just add the address community@cruisecritic.com to your Contacts or Address Book.

Also, if your current Cruise Critic e-mail address is NOT correct and that is the reason you are NOT receiving your Reply to Thread subscription notification e-mails sent there, please read another Sticky thread titled Need to change your Cruise Critic e-mail address of record? at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=42573800 also on the Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here! forum. Again, the thread will explain what you need to do to prevent that from happening again so you will receive your Reply to Thread subscription notification e-mails in the future.

I sincerely hope all this additional information will be helpful. I am sincerely trying to continue helping you as best I can.

I can't even read your thread, as it goes off the page and I can't scroll over.

All I do know is, whatever it is you just wrote and posted, would have taken you 2 minutes to alert whomever it is you need to alert. But I don't need any information. Your IT staff does.

Most posts are contained on one pane. Yours is not.

But I will suggest, if you are answering me on a post, I would hardly have known where to go to read your answer.

You better not. It's masked as SOCIAL ENGINEERING, so the code is trying to convince you to give them remote access. I had to laugh when someone suggested to hit C Alt Del.

It is only from this site :)

i'm sure CC will figure it all out :)

Yes, only on this CC site and has been going on for three days.

There's also a big thread on this on the Princess forum here on CC.

Hi!

Can you tell me which forum you were on? Any other info? (Browser you are using?)

I have the general boards page bookmarked and it gives me a msg. My scanner can still go through, but blocks the offending parts. I use Chrome.

Interestingly, I was seeing this same issue a month or more ago - McAfee was blocking the main boards page on Chrome indicating that it was not safe. IE did not experience this issue and after a couple of weeks it simply went away. I assumed either CC or McAfee fixed the problem. I've not seen that particular problem since.

Laura .... Thanks for taking an interest. It is a problem and after a long time on CC I very seldom whine so there is a problem. It's a pain having to re-boot the computer.

It happens at times when I just log into Cruise Critic ... both my PC & laptop take me to directly to "Message Boards". My browser is IE.

I too am having the same thing with McAfee.

Each time I get the warning, I do a scan which turns up nothing.

I could not make out what our host was saying or trying to say. I would put the question simply: is Cruise Critic spreading a virus? I would think they owe us the courtesy to find out and advise.

I've been branching out to other boards, and noticed they are having issues on the Princess boards as well. There's a thread over there as well warning other members.

It is the ads. I am on a touch screen and instead of scrolling I accidentally opened Fabletics ad. Voilà, the virus warning! I opened Task Manager, stopped Explorer and disconnected my Wi-Fi. I was then able to close that window and deleted all my browsing history. Now I am going to block ads. This was weird because I had JUST finished reading this thread and then I needed it!
