heatherdw Posted July 6, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2015 I'll be leaving on the 25th on my first solo cruise and I'm excited! :-D After looking at all the onboard activities, I'm thinking about splurging on something special. I was thinking of something like the Vibe Beach Club (if I can get a pass) or the thermal spa. I'm also open to other ideas. Any recommendations? TIA! Not really much of a splurge but for 10 bucks on a sea day you can get a lobster roll from Ocean Blue on the waterfront for lunch. It's delicious. 23words Posted July 6, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2015 We bought the spa passes on our November sailing on the Getaway. We really enjoyed it, so I just bought a pass through myNCL for my Europe cruise in August. Check if the pass is available online for your sailing as well, because you can get it cheaper that way. I think it is 20 dollars less than what you pay on the ship. Another thing that I enjoyed was having dinner at the sushi bar on our second to last night ... we ate at the MDRs all other nights and while the food was good, the sushi was a lovely change and not even that much of a splurge. Some people who were on board with us did the ice bar and loved it, but we didn't get around to that.

Every. Penny. Keep in mind I have no interest in sunbathing, though, so I clocked MANY hours in the thermal suite. If you'd spend more time on a lounger in the sun, may be of less value. It's delicious. I'm looking forward to enjoying the Lobster Roll again too! Only open on sea days from noon to two. You'll see the ships officers in line too:cool:

I'm the same way, and so is DH. Years ago he loved sitting in the sun all day but no more. Neither of us can swim well, and we're not really into going in the crowded pools. We spend lots of time in the thermal suite on a cruise, while the kids are enjoying their activities. We bought the spa pass for our upcoming Breakaway cruise which is in 13 days!! It makes the vacation even more relaxing than it already is. I am also splurging on a lobster roll on the Breakaway!

heatherdw Posted July 7, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted July 7, 2015 Well, it looks like the expensive splurge is out. After trying out a soft plastic waterproof case for my P&S camera, I discovered the the camera didn't work properly with it on. My splurge budget wound up going to a real waterproof P&S camera. I'm going snorkeling and I wanted a decent camera to capture the sea life with. I will definitely be hitting up that sushi bar at least once, though. :)
Nola26 Posted July 7, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Illusionarium is an affordable splurge. If there are casino dollars in your budget and you win perhaps take advantage of one of special onboard spa packages offered. heatherdw Posted July 18, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted July 18, 2015 Ah, the heck with it--it's only money. I decided to go for the thermal spa pass. [emoji2] The way I see it--since I sunburn fairly easily, I'm not going to want to spend a whole lot of time in a deck chair outside anyway. The idea of an uncrowded pool, the thermal and cushy deck chairs, and the quiet won me over. Just looking at the pictures of it makes me start to relax. I have a feeling that I'll be spending a lot of time here. :)

Time with her and my nephew will have to be my treat.

Along with the lobster roll from Ocean Blue, one of those treats would make a nice lunch. :)
Rare www3traveler Posted July 18, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 18, 2015 My favorite indulgence is fairly inexpensive: A Smoothie made by one of my favorite bartenders at the Atrium Cafe.
