krazykev Posted July 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Hi When buying the drinks package, can you still get drinks if you don't go off the ship? I know shops and casino is closed but what about the bars? cheers - Kev

CruisinHeels Posted July 10, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Bars are open. And if your port is Labadee or CocoCay, drink packages work on shore!
sailaway2010 Posted July 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 10, 2015 Not to worry, the bars will be open. Even in port there will still be many people on the ship.

MikeDaDog Posted July 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 10, 2015 The thing you have to watch is if you are docked at a USA port is whether they add sales tax to the price. I got a beer on the explorer while docked at Bayonne and sales tax was added.

I got a beer on the explorer while docked at Bayonne and sales tax was added. Actually, I would suggest watching to see if sales tax is added any time you buy a drink. On one of our cruises on Adventure one of the bars kept adding sales tax even when out at sea. When I enquired about it at guest services I was told they were supposed to charge tax. When I asked why that was the only bar that seemed to be doing it I was told that all of the bars should be. Then I enquired as to what government this tax was being turned over to and I just got a blank stare. The issue was not worth any more of my vacation time so I just avoided that one bar for the rest of the week.
jamesr3939 Posted July 11, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2015 They will close are lessen the hours on some of the bars during a port day. But, rest assured you will still be able to find alcohol.
