heathernm Posted July 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2015 Would like to Cruise out of California March of 2016 with my Husband and 2 teenage boys. Cruise line and destination recommendations please! Thanks in advance! [emoji6]
cruisead Posted July 19, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2015 You're going to be pretty much limited to Carnival and Princess, out of Los Angeles, with the itineraries being much the same, regardless of ship or cruise line. You will probably have stops in Cabo, Puerto Vallerta and Mazatlan. The only difference will be whether you want a 4 or 7 day cruise.
SadieN Posted July 19, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) 7 day cruises are variations of Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. 4 day cruises go to Ensenada and Catalina. Some of the Princess cruises might go to Santa Barbara or San Diego instead of Catalina. The 3 day cruises only go to Ensenada. We've sailed the Carnival 4 day Spring Break cruise a few years ago. There was "that one group" that had all the other college kids introducing themselves with, 'We're not part of 'that' group!' lol This being said our rowdiest short cruise was last November on Princess. The lido pool will be on the wild side but there are lots of places onboard that are very tame. Sometimes it can be cheaper to book two double occupancy cabins instead of a quad. Overall Carnival's Cabins are larger than on Princess's. Edited July 19, 2015 by SadieN

cruisead Posted July 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2015 And, do not forget Alaska out of San Francisco with Princess. Bob The OP specifically said they want a cruise in March, 2016. There are no cruises to Alaska in March. Alaska cruises start in late April or early May.

heathernm Posted July 20, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted July 20, 2015 I guess the real question is; Which Cruise-line? I love Royal Caribbean- but they don't sail in this area on those dates. Based on your experiences - Which Cruise line?
SadieN Posted July 20, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Assuming the 7 day cruise. We've enjoyed both Carnival and Princess. Have done two Princess MR cruises and too many Carnival MR cruises, have three booked. What do your sons like to do? Of they enjoy water slides go on Carnival. Carnival has a free adult serenity area. Need to pay for The Sanctuary on Princess but you do get some stuff for your money. Wouldn't do a quad on Princess, would do a quad on the Carnival Miracle. Our kids enjoyed the Carnival clubs.
Flatbush Flyer Posted July 20, 2015 #16 Share Posted July 20, 2015 And, do not forget Alaska out of San Francisco with Princess. Bob Look too at Oceania - both for Alaska and pacific coastal cruises. With the right itinerary dates and an O preferred partner TA, you'll find their included airfare and pretty much everything else except for alcohol (available in reasonably priced packages) makes attractive pricing for a far better experience than Princess or Celebrity, HAL, etc.

Momis2 Posted July 23, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 23, 2015 No one has mentioned Holland America. They cruise out of San Diego. Some long cruises to French Polynesia and South America and some shorter ones to Mexico.
HawksFan74 Posted July 23, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 23, 2015 No one has mentioned Holland America. They cruise out of San Diego. The only Holland America cruise out of San Diego next March is a 14-day one way to Ft. Lauderdale. Not sure if that is what the OP is looking for.
