sapper1 Posted July 22, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Neither have we - feel better now :p:D;) That means they took your picture but not ours when we embarked for the Westerdam Sailaway cruise. They would have had both our pictures on file so I wonder how they decide.

But if they want to skip it for our cruise next year that will be fine by me ;)
take us away Posted July 22, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Does it depend how long between cruises?I don't mean ten years but say 16 or so months? Not from what I have seen as we were almost 2 years between cruises: Jan 2014 until Nov 2014 and DH did not need a new photo.
Cruising-along Posted July 22, 2015 #29 Share Posted July 22, 2015 We cruise 1-2 times/year and I don't recall ever being told we could skip having the photo taken. I have the same hair style, we must just look older each time. :o I'm wondering if it depends on who you get...

I have the same hair style, we must just look older each time. :o I'm wondering if it depends on who you get... This has happened now for several years at multiple embarkation ports all over the world: no photo for me, but always one taken for my husband. One agent said "I guess they like your photo", indicating it was not her choice to make. This agent's response is why this procedure felt like such a puzzlement, and not something that was done at the discretion of each agent spontaneously ---- anywhere in the world at the time of embarkation. Just wondering what the HAL policy was behind this since photo-ID's seem a critical part of ship's security procedures.
Rare POA1 Posted July 22, 2015 #31 Share Posted July 22, 2015 We took 2 cruises on the same ship within a week of one another and they took our photos both times. Same ship. Same terminal.

Have you lost weight? Have you dyed your hair a different color? This is not brain surgery: can you be easily identified by your old photo? Or not? There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. Many of us who have the same hairstyle, glasses, weight, etc. each time still have a new photo taken. shrimp56 Posted July 22, 2015 #36 Share Posted July 22, 2015 Last boarding the agent said she could do better than the one on file so took a new one. DH wasn't retaken.

Now there is the BEST reason to take another photo. I cannot BELIEVE how bad I have looked on HAL photos!!!

d&jmojavedesert Posted July 22, 2015 #40 Share Posted July 22, 2015 This has happened to me ,but not DH. I went through security and waited for DH to come through. He had my picture on his card. This happened twice. I guess I am better looking than him.
