nomadron Posted July 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2015 We will be sailing on the Carnival Valor August 8th. We are two couples. We requested "Your Time Dining" but have been waitlisted for it. It seems we will be assigned to Late Dining. Our problem is if we indeed are assigned late dining we want it to be a 4 top table. We don't mind dining with others at a larger table. But we will not use the MDR on most nights (due to Steakhouse, Lido, etc). We don't want others to have to wait for us when we will not be there or have empty seats at a 6, 8, or 10 top table. So we thought having a 4 top would not inconvenience other guests. Can anyone give me an email address or way to contact the Valor Maitre D (or anyone else) to have us assigned to a 4 top if we end up with late dining? Thank you! Rare PrincessArlena'sDad Posted July 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2015 the matre d will have "business hours" on embarkation day for you to make any requests you have. Also, if you do wind up with a large group, just let the server know the night before if you know you won't be there, so they won't wait.

Pyrate13 Posted July 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 24, 2015 The opposite side of the coin. We love your time dining. Most times we get seated right away but on the couple of times that did not happen we never waited more than 5/10 minutes at the most.

Certain times will be more crowded with longer wait times. i would think that before 6 30 would walk right in and after that will be some sort of wait. The two times we did ATD got to dining room by 6 15 and no wait

Carnival's Maître Ds are not required to respond to passengers' email requests in advance of the cruise. The customary action is to visit the Maître D on embarkation day (hours in Fun Times) to make your requests known. Preferences are granted based on eligibility with Diamonds being guaranteed their preference and then Platinums being given next preference, and so on. Ensuring your two bookings are linked together in the reservation system will help achieve what you are asking, and your PVP can assist with that. Best wishes for a great cruise with your friends. ABQrobin Posted July 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted July 24, 2015 we did Anytime Dining our first 2 cruises... neither time did we wait more than 5 minutes. Busiest nights were Formal nights so there was always a line. We also didn't have a specific area or waiter requested, which can make the wait longer. Keep flexible and there is a short wait. summersigh Posted July 24, 2015 #11 Share Posted July 24, 2015 You can also try emailing the ship's Maitre'd the week before your cruise with your request (I'd include the reason as well ) They normally don't reply back even if they have taken care of your request ,,, so double check in the Dining Room as soon as you board the ship to be sure it's OK. I copied the info below posted on a thread a few weeks ago: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Carnival Maitre'd emails : Its the two letter ship code then maitred@carnival.com Maitre d' - xxmaitred@carnival.com Steakhouse - xxsteakhouse@carnival.com (for ships with a steakhouse) BR Breeze CQ Conquest DR Dream EC Ecstacy EL Elation FA Fantasy FD Freedom FS Fascination GL Glory IM Imagination IS Inspiration LE Legend LI Liberty MC Magic MI Miracle PA Paradise PR Pride SE Sensation SL Splendor SP Spirit SH Sunshine TI Triumph VA Valor VI Victory VS Vista
nomadron Posted July 24, 2015 Author #12 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Thank you all for your responses. I want to address a couple of things mentioned: Our bookings are linked. Other than "elegant nights" we don't know what nights we will eat there. So telling our waiter in advance what nights we will miss is not possible. It could be any of the 5 regular fare nights. In our 6 previous Carnival Cruises, we have always used "Your Time Dining" and have loved it. We have been in groups of 8 or as few as 2. We want to remedy this before we get our sign and sail cards with our dining information on the back. We have also learned that if you find a wait staff you like doing YTD, you can request them each evening. Once again, thank you for all of the response. guxu Posted July 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted July 24, 2015 (edited) We were waitlited for YTD on Valor last week. But when we checked in, all 6 of us got YTD. So no need to talk to Maître D. For the whole week, we got pager once. It was an elegant night and we went MDR @6:45pm. We knew it was a bad time but 2 people in our group went to the wrong dinning room and waited there. It took us about 30 minutes to find them and they were upset. We got a pager and waited about 20 minutes. Edited July 24, 2015 by guxu
vwrestler171 Posted July 25, 2015 #14 Share Posted July 25, 2015 We love ATD as well, if I like my waitstaff I can get them every night. I never had to wait longer than a cpl minutes, but then I don't go at the busy times.
SadieN Posted July 25, 2015 #15 Share Posted July 25, 2015 If you won't be there on a certain night, just let your server know you won't be there and they won't wait for you. Could let them know the first night that if you're not at the table 5-10 minutes after the beginning of dinner to assume you'll not be joining them for dinner. I'm sure there's a way. Off the top of my head your S&S card has your table number on it. Make a little placard or find a piece of paper and write something to the effect "If the Smith's are not here by 6:15 we will not be joining you tonight." and leave it on the table. You could also drop a note with the Matre'd.

springs741 Posted July 25, 2015 #18 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Are people with FTTF given any preference in regards to dining requests such as table size etc? FTTF is given priority AFTER diamond and platinum. Diamond are guaranteed their choice of dining, Platinum is moved to the top of the list as it becomes available and then FTTF. This is for Dining Time ( early, late or YTD). Table size starts a new list.
sarmat1 Posted July 25, 2015 #19 Share Posted July 25, 2015 Are people with FTTF given any preference in regards to dining requests such as table size etc? For dining time, yes. We had the problem of being waitlisted for Early Dining last year. I called and the rep said that since we had FTTF, it would update overnight and change to confirmed. Sure enough it did and we had confirmed Early Dining as of the next day.
happywife0921 Posted July 25, 2015 #20 Share Posted July 25, 2015 We were wait listed with another couple were traveling with on our last cruise as well, however upon boarding we were given your time dining anyway. If that does not happen for you as a previous poster replied you can definitely make arrangements upon embarkation.
