Ubu Posted August 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2015 We are sailing next week on Statendam. Previously on HAL ships some have been very cold in Alaska and some not. Has anyone been on her recently? Packing and need to know what to pack????? Thanks:)
northernphoenix Posted August 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Sailed on the Statendam last August. We didn't find the suite or ship interior uncomfortable. We did have lots of rain, foggy weather, so prepare for wet conditions.
zelker Posted August 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2015 Just got off her this past Monday. MDR was warm more often than not at dinner - in fact so warm that most men removed their jackets on formal nights. Seemed like our cabin tended to run a bit warmer than we liked, especially when we were docked. Other venues around the ship seemed pretty normal. YMMV. Have fun! My DH is always a bit "too warm" and I am always "a bit chilly". In the same room. We did not notice any particularly uncomfortable areas on the ship in May. We had late fixed dining and I wore long sleeves or a wrap each night. DH never felt it necessary to take of his jacket on formal nights. Our cabin was comfortable, neither too hot or too cold, but people we traveled with found their cabin very cold. Uncomfortably so. They got it fixed by complaining to the Front Desk. Since you are going to Alaska, you will be packing layers, so you should be okay. Unless you get a really cold or really warm cabin, in which case you will need to get the Front Desk to get it fixed.
