msjazzymiss Posted August 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2015 I need to make a decision today so your help would be greatly appreciate your help. I've cruised Carnival & RCCL many times but have only cruised with Celebrity once many years ago. I want to sail on the Reflection this December, but afraid that there will not be enough "action" for my husband (he hasn't learned how to relax yet and needs to be entertained). What type of activity can we expect on Celebrity during sea days and in the evening? Also will the days I sail with Celebrity count toward my Crown & Anchor? karena1 Posted August 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2015 (edited) I need to make a decision today so your help would be greatly appreciate your help. I've cruised Carnival & RCCL many times but have only cruised with Celebrity once many years ago. What type of activity can we expect on Celebrity during sea days and in the evening? Also will the days I sail with Celebrity count toward my Crown & Anchor? I will help as much as I can - No points on each line are separate. However, there is reciprocity b/t the lines once you hit certain levels. For example, we are D+ on Royal so we are Elite on Celebrity. But points are not combined. We are going on Silhouette in Dec and cannot wait. No Celebrity is not as "game oriented" as Royal. For example you will not see the Bellyflop Contest. But there are still plenty of activities going on each day. But there are also less kids on Celebrity. Also, if the beverage package or tips etc are a factor, remember that with Celebrity you get the Go Big, Better, Best so for us, this was a huge deciding factor. With getting water/soda/specialty coffees, and alcohol included for about the same price, there was no way we were going Royal over Celebrity. And we really like Celebrity so although in the past we cruised Royal almost exclusively, with Celebrity, Princess and to some extend NCL now offering bev pkgs, we are looking at all the options to determine who is giving us the best bang for the buck Edited August 2, 2015 by karena1
Rare chemmo Posted August 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2015 No rock climbing wall, flowrider, belly flop competition. Wine tasting, trivia, relaxation, music in a variety of venues but not overwhelming. Nice, romantic meals for two in the speciality restaurants. If in doubt that there is enough to entertain him pay for an Internet package. If he does not know how to relax yet he needs a Celebrity cruise! Seriously you will not look back. Gig103 Posted August 2, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2015 I find Celebrity to be quieter than Carnival. What activities does he like? The casino was dead during the day, but there were trivia and enrichment speakers, daily Bridge groups, galley tours and other meet&greets. Evening entertainment was good including post-show themes in one of the lounges (i.e. 70s night), including the dancers showing up. For C&A there is reciprocity as follows: Platinum & Emerald == upgrade to Select Diamond, D+ == upgrade to Elite But you still start out at 0 points on Celebrity and won't get days added to RCCL. redjetz Posted August 2, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 2, 2015 I have to disagree a bit. With a dozen Celebrity cruises behind me and several more scheduled, we love Celebrity. But I wouldn't say there is a lot of action onboard. There is the casino, occasional lectures, the basketball court, the gym and some fitness classes, and a few games like ping pong or water volleyball, but it's not non-stop action. If your husband needs constant stimulation and is not a kick back and relax guy, Celebrity might be a stretch.
OCruisers Posted August 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 2, 2015 While we much prefer Celebrity over Carnival and RCCL, it's way more laid back and isn't a good choice for everyone. ;) LuLu
