Nezmo Posted August 13, 2015 #26 Share Posted August 13, 2015 It seems Princess are walking a fine line with the use of the phrase 'sale.'
Yensidlove Posted August 13, 2015 #27 Share Posted August 13, 2015 We just got a $200 reduction in the fare, and another $150 on board credit with this promotion applied to our upcoming booking. YAY! So far these sales have been great for us. :)
COP Posted August 13, 2015 #28 Share Posted August 13, 2015 It seems that it has been this way since Jan took over as President at Princess. The cruise I'm on has been the same price since I signed on. I check cabins each day and they have not sold a OW cabin on Deck 8, the same cabins are available for the last month in Mid Aft. The cruise is to Hawaii from LA on the 15th of November 2015. I cruise this route each year and I have never seen it so slow to book. For an obstructed OV on Mid Aft it is 1659.00:eek: COP:)
fishywood Posted August 13, 2015 #29 Share Posted August 13, 2015 (edited) For this denizen of last-minute deals the sale is a wash. Regal Oct 24 10-day NY-FLL was $899 for lowest category standard balcony, now cheapest is $999 guarantee w/ $100 OBC. But obstructed balcony guarantee only went up $20 ($829 to $849) with addition of $100 OBC. So as a likely solo I'm looking at an inside guarantee for $1097 with no OBC versus obstructed balcony guarantee $1698 with $200 OBC. Not-so-subtle way of upselling... (I'll know tomorrow if a family member can join me; and yes I did a test booking to confirm singles get double OBC this promotion) Edited August 13, 2015 by fishywood
cherylandtk Posted August 13, 2015 #30 Share Posted August 13, 2015 I'd call the TA and find out if she can do anything like cancel and rebook. that is a significant difference in price with additional OBC.Liz, I think you have misunderstood; our TA price is still below the new Princess price. A cancel and rebook would increase our cost. ;)
cherylandtk Posted August 13, 2015 #31 Share Posted August 13, 2015 I checked price history on the Caribbean 10 day cruises; the 2015 sailings are what is on sale, with a rough average price drop of $200 for a balcony, depending on category. The 2016 sailings, nothing. Red prices all the way down the page, every category. Prices I look at are incognito price available to anyone; not past passenger discounts or any other specials like resident rates.
Rare tetleytea Posted August 13, 2015 #32 Share Posted August 13, 2015 I'll give it this much: ship OBC is as good as cash, up to $12 per day.
Rare azbirdmom Posted August 13, 2015 #33 Share Posted August 13, 2015 For our Panama Canal cruise, the prices did come down but not enough for us to rebook since we had booked under the "taxes free" offer a month ago. But what I find interesting is that the prices when I click continue are identical to what they have been. Those had the "casino" pricing" and still seem to be discounting off the full fares and not the sale fares. Maybe they are still in the process of fully updating the pricing or perhaps it was an oversight (which happens a lot on their website), but it's not much of a deal for us. Hopefully it will be somewhat better for the family members who just decided to join us on this cruise, especially since the third person in a stateroom is now $399 (was $1,374 yesterday). partybarbie Posted August 13, 2015 #34 Share Posted August 13, 2015 I called our TA and re-booked to the new sale. We had to pay $100.00 more for the cabin, but we are getting $200.00 in shipboard credit. This is for the 10-day mexico in April of 2016. So even though it wasn't a new booking, we still got the credits and this offer does apply to some of the 2016 cruises.

But might make for a good sale after final? Just a couple weeks away, not that it will do you any good then.

dam64 Posted August 13, 2015 #37 Share Posted August 13, 2015 When we booked this afternoon a balcony room was 1690 per person and now we wanted to upgrade to a mini suite and we noticed the price jumped to 2380 per person! Yikes how does a price jump so much in a few hours and when we checked this cruise last week it was at 2500 per person, I'd say we got very lucky because it seems to be selling fast. FYI this is in Canadian funds mind you.

janetz Posted August 14, 2015 #39 Share Posted August 14, 2015 That repo from NY to FLL at the end of Oct on the Regal is a great sailing. Many sea days, and a GREAT Halloween bash. ;)
Gallivanting Souls Posted August 14, 2015 #40 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I guess I missed the part about the sale starting on Thursday...Nothing that works with my schedule and the prices don't look that great any way. I guess I will keep holding onto that FCC. Sure sucks being so limited on when we can sail do to being in school. (That's why we are trying Carnival next )
Grego Posted August 14, 2015 #41 Share Posted August 14, 2015 Shocking.... I checked a cruise we are booked on in January today and noticed that the price is almost $2000 more now for the two of us than it was when we booked for the same category. Something tells me the prices are now artificially high to then go back to where they were for this "sale" tomorrow, but I guess only time will validate my theory. We noticed the same thing for our upcoming February voyage. I don't know if you have priced RCI lately, but they market their cabins by offering a buy 1 and get one free - but they double the fare for the first passenger. UandMe4Ever Posted August 15, 2015 #42 Share Posted August 15, 2015 (edited) Yes, we've done it before and it is a great, relaxing cruise! We don't get involved with the Halloween thing! Fun to see people dressed up, décor, etc., but that's about it. Hope they have food on the menu that does NOT include pumpkin...LOL Not our fave at all. It'll be a great cruise. Love the ports (done many times on different ships as well! Maybe this time we'll get over to St. John's to check it out. Always wanted to but never seem to get to do it!! Maybe this cruise? Thanks :-) Edited August 15, 2015 by UandMe4Ever
UandMe4Ever Posted August 15, 2015 #43 Share Posted August 15, 2015 There are SO many empty cabins in most categories at this date. Surprised for sure....maybe magic will happen again and I'll try to see if we get anything if our cabin goes down to match the new sale. However, we're NOT giving up $375 OBC to save $200.
