KevinsCruising Posted August 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Carnival needs to change their CHEERS package from 15 drinks to unlimited. Too much competition with other lines like Norwegian, MSC that are offering unlimited. I don't mind paying but I don't want to worry about the limit of drinks I had. soccersharon Posted August 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2015 There is no way I could consume 15 drinks in one day. I'm OK with the limit.
Hoosierpop Posted August 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) As long as they are meeting their goal in terms of sales, no reason to change it. If the number of people who would switch to another cruise because they want more than 15 drinks per day gets high enough, then maybe Carnival makes a change. Podna's Posted August 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 16, 2015 With the Huge success Carnival is having with this program I don't ever see that happening. Also, the very few passengers they might be losing strictly on drink packages is not hurting them one bit.
TamaLee Posted August 16, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I agree. I believe the Cheers package should be revamped to be more like the packages offered on Royal and Princess. I also don't like that you can not purchase the package prior to boarding the ship.
jolyn928 Posted August 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I tend to agree. When you add the cruise fare, gratuities, and cost of the cheers package it is comparable to the cost of an AI resort...where drinks are not limited to a max of 15. esdoorn Posted August 16, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 16, 2015 They should offer a second cheers package (call it the cheers lite program) at $22.00/day in price for a qty of six (6) beer and/or wine only for those who would like to drink, but not get totally wasted. freedomcruiser891 Posted August 16, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I personally think the drink limit is more of a liability for them. They don't wanna be responsible for somebody over consuming and doing something stupid
Velvetwater Posted August 16, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 16, 2015 If you are consuming more than 15 alcoholic drinks per day you have problems....holiday or not. Its still tricky to get up to even with other drinks. However the Guest Service manager on the Legend told us it was a way to try and limit sharing one package. I'm a 5'5 130ish pound woman who loves beer. I could blow through the 15 limit before dinner without being 'drunk'. Buzzed? Yes. Drunk? No. I can assure you I don't have problems. ;) it's easy if you're the type of person who enjoys a few beers with coffee after breakfast, one or two on the balcony, a couple with lunch...they add up. I also don't like that you can not purchase the package prior to boarding the ship. I also agree with this. The RCI packages have no daily limit and all age 21+ passengers in a cabin to NOT have to purchase the package. They also have a pre-cruise purchase of the packages option (you can also purchase on-board after the cruise starts as long as there are at least four days remaining on the cruise and you will only be charged a pro-rated per day fee). I think the Cheers program in terms of the variety of drinks you can get is analogous to the RCI Premium package which is the same price (before gratuity) as Cheers. jolyn928 Posted August 16, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 16, 2015 (edited) As 5'10 woman who drinks all real beers and a relation of a Heptology specialist I sincerely doubt this statement. I'm not sure what 'real' beers are, but I do drink light beers, with lower alcohol contents along with food. I take a break, rehydrate and will drink again with food. That being said, there is absolutely NO way I could consume 15 mixed drinks no matter how far spaced without being intoxicated. Edited to add...I wasn't trying to sound snarky about the real beer comment. I realize you''re in the UK and your beers are likely much more potent. Hoosierpop Posted August 16, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I agreed wish unlimitid drinks. I drink moar then 15 drincs per dae and it don't effect me none at all. Carnival needs to get with it and let ush drink as mush as we wont to.

There's something about coffee and beer that says 'vacation' to me. Do I do it at home? No, I'd be rather plump lol, but it's a special treat when we're leaving the real world behind. :)
Wilgr Posted August 16, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I would be happy with a less expensive "beer only" package.

I am not sure on Coors/Heineken ' abv but the beer I drink is usually 5% abv and above. If I am drinking my favourite Belgian ones it goes up to 10% abv. Some of my tall male friends get drunk on 10ish bottles though.

I'm not promoting RCI (believe me) but our last couple of cruises have been with them so I'm a bit familiar. They do have a "Select" package for $35/day which includes beer, wines by the glass, non-alcoholic drinks, soda and 20% off bottles of wine. JillySue Posted August 16, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 16, 2015 Agreed, I am 4 deep by breakfast because I love Baileys in my coffee. I'm usually 3-4 deep after breakfast because of mimosas! As a 5'4" woman (not sure why we're all giving our measurements, but sure.) I have hit my limit on more than one occasion and never felt more than a slight buzz. I tend to drink frozen cocktails (I don't drink them at home because I'm SO not washing 2 blenders!) and space throughout the day. I hit 15 at about midnight or 1 and then it's bedtime. Although, if I have a few left at 11 and I'm ready for bed, I'll do a couple of shots :)

We've only sailed on Carnival and are so close to platinum. Once we reach it we may look at cruising other lines as well. Hubby isn't a beer or wine drinker, so the Cheers package may work better for us. Haha. :) I agree with the beer package idea as our drinks on Carnival were mainly the Cigar city cans anyway. I love some craft beers with higher alcohol contents, but know to take it much more easy on them :) The Red Frog Ale was pretty good IMO. I've never tried the Cigar City beer, but hope to when we sail next. :)
GrannyFlamingo Posted August 16, 2015 #23 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I wish they'd change that everyone in the same cabin has to purchase it. Its going to make cabin arrangements a pain in the neck for next years family cruise. Sorting out who does want Cheers and who doesn't won't match with who wants to sleep in the same cabin. Wilgr Posted August 16, 2015 #24 Share Posted August 16, 2015 I never break even for the cruise, it is just convenient to pay for drinks up front and not feel like I have to go to the casino to get a free drink with the DOU card. It's probably silly, but that's how my brain works.

You add your ingredients right in your cup, screw the blade on and drink. The only thing to clean is rinsing the blade and then your cup :D
