InTheWASide Posted August 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Princess Cruises unveiled SHARE by Curtis Stone, his first restaurant at sea. SHARE offers an specialty dining experience for guests with a menu of dishes imagined for sharing, in an environment designed for conversing and creating memories said Princess. SHARE is scheduled to debut aboard Ruby Princess and Emerald Princess this December. Previously announced, this exclusive partnership with Chef Stone adds to the line’s “come back new” brand promise, designed to elevate the onboard guest experience by introducing new culinary offerings dedicated to fresh, flavorful cuisine aboard all ships. As part of the partnership, “Crafted by Curtis” menu items offered in the main dining rooms will debut aboard Golden Princess in the fall and roll out fleet-wide through the end of 2015. Curtis Stone’s Chef’s Table experience will debut in early 2016. The SHARE dining experience encourages connecting with family, friends and other cruisers by offering intriguing dishes served family style. Designed by Chef Stone, the menu features dishes such as a Charcuterie starter course; Butter Roasted Lobster with Caramelized Endive and Endive Foam; Twice Cooked Duck Leg with Fennel, Bacon jus and Parmesan Crumb; Tagliatelle with Roasted Alaskan Crab, Chili and Parsley; and Dark Chocolate Cremeux with Toasted Hazelnut Feuilletine and Burnt Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Working closely with Chef Stone and Princess Cruises, world-renowned hospitality designer Jeffrey Beers International has developed a dining ambiance that is a reflection of Chef Stone’s creative vision and stems from his own childhood mealtime experiences, which were as much about family, community and connection as they were about the food itself. By creating a restaurant with a comfortable, homey atmosphere, the design allows for the important things in life to take center stage – people, and the activity of creating shared moments with one another over a delicious meal. A signature feature of SHARE is a communal table designed to encourage the sharing of a freshly prepared meal in the company of friends and family. Hand blown glass pendants etched with some of Chef Stone’s favorite recipes cast an intimate glow and create a warm and celebratory experience. Elements not often seen in cruise ship restaurant interiors add to the friendly atmosphere – low-backed banquettes, beautifully upholstered in luxe Chesterfield tufted leather and decorative curios from Chef Stone’s own collection including photographs and travel souvenirs make guests feel even more at home. “We’re honored that Princess Cruises is the home of Curtis Stone’s first restaurant at sea,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises President. “We know our guests will enjoy the menu Chef Stone has created for SHARE and we’re sure they will also feel right at home dining in his new restaurant, just like we hope they always feel on a Princess cruise vacation. SHARE is an exciting new enhancement adding to our guest experience intended to fulfill our ‘come back new’ brand promise.” “It’s only natural that my first restaurant at sea is named SHARE, as sharing food family-style with family and good friends is the most enjoyable way to eat,” said Chef Stone. “I love the process of passing plates amongst each other and creating meaningful connections through the food and conversation. I’ve worked feverishly to create elegant, tasty dishes that I’m really proud to serve in a beautiful and relaxed environment, and I’m excited that SHARE is set to become a special part of people’s holiday memories and experience at sea.” Following the debut of SHARE aboard Ruby Princess sailing from Los Angeles on cruises to Hawaii and Mexico and Emerald Princess sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to the Caribbean this December, the rollout will continue aboard Coral Princess cruising the Panama Canal in January 2016 and then Sun Princess in April 2016, which will bring Chef Stone’s restaurant to his home country, Australia. Cruiserkenn Posted August 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2015 So where do you think this new place will be located? Crown Grill? Sabatini's? Club Caribe? Kai Sushi on Sun Princess? Or some new, unimagined locales? Inquiring mind want to know:)
maggie.1008 Posted August 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I think it will replace Sabatini`s. I would like to try something new.
Pam in CA Posted August 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Share will replace Sabatini's on Emerald, Ruby and Coral. On Sun it will replace the pizzeria. (From Cruise Radio) I'm not a fan of this concept. Probably fun if you're traveling with friends and family but not with strangers. Smacks too much of boarding school to me. There's always someone who takes a bigger portion not to mention you're sitting there with your food getting cold waiting for the next platter. Crown Cruiser Posted August 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2015 And we try to avoid other's germs on the ships - now this encourages sharing and passing from hand to hand. I'm not so sure about this.

Loonbeam Posted August 18, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Probably the same thing they did at Sabatinis with the old menu. Server will serve portions from a larger 'shared' plate of food. HUNKY Posted August 18, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 18, 2015 The dishes listed sound delicious! Reminds me of Maggiano's family style. Hope it works out. Princess - Please don't try to low ball the menu. Charge enough so that high quality ingredients can be used.
Astro Flyer Posted August 18, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Hopefully this will not only be a change but an improvement which is not always the situation. ;) To me Sabatini's weakest aspect was it's entrees & they did nothing to improve them. Their description of the dining experience does not appear to be service by waiters from platters & instead like a communal family style restaurant. If not served by waiters, sharing platters of food & serving ourselves would be an easy way to spread germs such as norovirus. I've had waiters mistakenly give a plate to the wrong passenger & if it was touched by the passenger they would take it away to get a replacement and that wasn't during code red. The names of the courses sound gourmet but I'll have to wait & see if that translates well to a ship's galley. If the price is reasonable then I'd try it with an open mind & hope to discover for myself that it's an improvement & not merely a change. InTheWASide Posted August 18, 2015 Author #17 Share Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) From the CC news item: Update: (August 17, 2015, 9:50 p.m. EDT) The name of the new restaurant will be Share, Princess has revealed. A menu of signature dishes, designed for sharing, will be served at communal tables with low-backed leather banquettes and decorative curios from Curtis' collection. It will replace the line's long-standing Italian restaurant, Sabatini's, on Emerald Princess, Ruby Princess, Coral Princess and Sun Princess. In other news, not sure if Pam can confirm this as well or not, but I've heard that the Wheelhouse Bar was being replaced in the semi-near future with a full time pub concept called Thirsty Dog Pub or Salty Dog Pub... something like that... don't recall the precise name Not naming my source but they work in the corporate office and it was mentioned at a recent "here's the state of the company update" type meeting for all employees. On the Royal & Regal the Wheelhouse Bar adjacent to the CG is where the Pub Lunch is regularly held. To me it's good that Princess is exploring possible changes & hopefully their research results in an improved passenger experience. :) Maybe your source could mention that with removing Sabatini's they should put an Alfredo's Pizzeria with the Royal & Regal's expanded menu on all ships to keep their Italian roots intact. ;) Edited August 18, 2015 by Astro Flyer
waltd Posted August 18, 2015 #20 Share Posted August 18, 2015 If Shared means a table for two then I'm fine with it. If you have to sit at larger tables then I doubt we would ever try the restaurant.

CoffeHound Posted August 18, 2015 #22 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Still wondering what the cost will be?Also, if it will be a set menu with no choices? LuLu I was so excited that they were going to have a new "Curtis Stone" venue, and am now so bummed at this whole communal style concept. As a person with both food allergies and a vegetarian this just doesn't work for me if I cannot choose my own food. Maybe Princess feels there will still be plenty of takers, but I know I am not the only person who has dietary restrictions that makes this type of place a no go for me. However, if it is structured more like Qsine on X where each table orders multiple dishes and shares, that might be workable. That way I only have to torture my family with everything I cannot eat, and leave everyone else in peace.

Frank that's fine. We have yet to try Sabatini's as we never found much on the menu that sounded interesting so not a problem to pass on Share. hobo1937 Posted August 18, 2015 #25 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Well, they already are having more passenger participation entertainment and less real entertainers. Now they can cut down on wait staff as the passengers will be passing the food around. At least that's what it sounds like to me.
