GranysT Posted August 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I have a cruise on Victory, this Saturday. Just got an email from Carnival today. Telling me I have a cruise coming very soon, and they just can't wait to welcome me aboard. OK, that's nice. Then it says, the fun starts from the moment you step aboard, and an employee shows you to your cabin. WHAT? This will be my 19th cruise with Carnival, and not once has an employee shown me to my cabin, or even told me where it was. Have I been missing something? Is this something new? Inquiring minds want to know.

When we booked an Owner's Suite on Ecstacy an couple of years ago (the upsell fairy was very persuasive), we were escorted onto the ship and taken to our cabin. That was listed as one of the suite's perks. A good thing too. We'd have never found the cabin without someone taking us. The door was down a short, dark hall where you'd never expect. During the cruise we actually caught a couple of kids making out in our entry way.

Yea, they point and show you the way to your cabin. Lol. Have a great cruise! Edited August 20, 2015 by winddawn
ready2cruzagain Posted August 20, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I have had this done on Celebrity but never on Carnival. Would surprise me if they would ever do it.
CruiseReg Posted August 20, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Could it be a milestone cruise? First milestone cruise is at 25. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
SkyMaster Posted August 20, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 20, 2015 (edited) I too, remember those days well. I think Celebrity still does that, but of course, you pay for it in the end. ;) I never received that service on either my 25th, or 50th Milestone cruise. cruzeluver Posted August 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Even Celebrity has stopped doing this, and least for non-suite passengers. With staterooms not generally available till 1:00PM that's a lot of folks that could not be escorted upon embarkation anyway, unless you have purchased FTTF. urbanhawk Posted August 20, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Those womanizers, Doc, Gopher, etc. on the Princess Love Boat, would have shown some of the ladies to their cabins!;):D
katiel53 Posted August 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2015 We were on Dream last month and no one showed us to the cabin. Please let us know after the cruise if someone actually did that.
pryd Posted August 20, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I got the same email for my 8/22 Freedom cruise. Ill let you know if they actually do show me to my cabin. Do they even have enough staff to do this?? and before you ask. I am in a 1A cabin platinum member. So I get on the ship earlier, that might be when they show me to my cabin (Like after 29 cruises I wouldn't be able to find it)? Ray
llg13 Posted August 20, 2015 #15 Share Posted August 20, 2015 I just went back to my email from november last year, and it says nothing about anyone showing me too my cabin, all it said was they can't wait to welcome me aboard. maybe another new platinum perk? hahaha
martinchem Posted August 20, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 20, 2015 Maybe it's a way to escort eligible passengers with early room availability and discourage others from following.
45014 Posted August 20, 2015 #17 Share Posted August 20, 2015 We were on a cruise earlier this year, and we had FTTF, and we were not escorted to our cabin. So I don't know what the criteria is for an escort to the cabin.
Cruise life Posted August 20, 2015 #18 Share Posted August 20, 2015 The only cabin we were ever escorted to was the Fascination Owner suite, and it's a good thing because we would never have found it otherwise.

When we boarded last time with FTTF, a few folks did follow-and found out their cabins were not ready! kelkel2 Posted August 21, 2015 #21 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I've never seen an email with the wording quite like that. It makes me think they have changed the wording lately. But again, like others have said. I have never had anyone escort me to my room or even offer or ask if I know where I am going.
Shipbound Posted August 21, 2015 #22 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I've been Diamond for a few years now and nobody has shown me to my cabin and I do not expect them to show me my cabin. Gary

Inquiring minds want to know. If I remember correctly from last January, when we boarded I had my S&S card (Platinum) hanging around my neck, and the CCL employee stopped me and pointed to the correct elevators since we could go directly to the cabin. I was with the large group that boarded first - Diamond, Plats, suites, FTTF. So no, we were not escorted to cabin but were shown we could go to the cabin. JohnSpo Posted August 21, 2015 #25 Share Posted August 21, 2015 I usually have to ask on embarkation how to get to my cabin. I have never been escorted to my cabin, just a few simple directions. For me that is sufficient. It will be interesting to hear if these passengers are actually escorted to their cabin. Probably not. A point in the right direction to the elevators should suffice for most people. The numbering of the decks and odd/even signs on the wall seem to work out just fine.
