Airlifted off Anthem

Wow that's somehow crazy, seems like the emergency team itself filmed it?

Yes, just like the US Coast Guard films their rescues. Prayers to the family and thanks for the video, that's terrifying. Nobody has posted about it yet on the roll call, I'm sure they will when you get back.

It was totally insane especially as I'm terrified of flying which is why we cruise . I didn't realise there is no Helipad on Anthem. Glad I didn't know this until a few minutes before I was winched up

Yesterday on day 2 of our cruise the worst thing happened and my father became critically I'll and as we were at sea we were airlifted to Lisbon. I have a fear of flying so being winched off was very traumatic. There were loads of passengers taking photos. If anyone has any I would really like to see some . It may sound strange / morbid but I'd like to . If anyone has any please contact me , thanks

My dad is stable in ICU ,;we are all hoping he'll recover . Royal Caribbean staff have been amazing x

Hi really sorry to hear your dad had to be airlifted off the ship hope he is doing ok now

We do have a video of the airlift if you want it

Been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the announcement being made over the PA system. Must have been a very traumatic experience for you all but hoping and trusting and praying that your dad will be ok and pull through, it is amazing what our medical team can do and especially our Great Physician. Upholding you and your family in prayer at this time.

The helipad area is only for small helicopters. The rescue helis are usually to heavy to land there. Landing on a floating ship is also very risky. So usually they do winch the patients.

There is a winch area on the bow. But they may use other areas for winching depending on the weather and wind conditions (for safety reasons).

This. I'm active Navy and was a helo mechanic for 8years, seeing these taking off/landing is interesting (not to mention the rotor wash they kick up). Always a sight to see when they land on the back of a cruiser.
