Help With Sky Suite Questions

Sailing on the Solstice next week. Got an upgrade yesterday from a 1B to a Sky Suite. First time in a Sky Suite. Could you please give me info on what benefits come with this cabin? What exactly is in Michaels Club and are Sky Suite people allowed in it? Can we eat lunch in Luminae on embarkation day? Does Sky Suites have a butler? If so, what can we expect from a butler. Any other info or hints you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Michael's Club is the private suite lounge, but unfortunately the Sky suites don't get to use it.

You do get to eat in Lunimae all the time, including embarkation day. I have a feeling that it closes around 1.30 though. I suspect we will miss out later this month as our flight lands in Southampton at 12.30ish.

The Sky suites do have the bulter who along with the room steward is there to deal with anything you need. He will organise your speciality restaurants - you get 1 free each week. He will bring afternoon tea at around 3.30 to 4.30, deal with any laundry etc. We always find it hard to make good use of them as I would rather get a bit of exercise going to get a towel fromt he pool deck rather than call the butler to do it.

He will also deal with any room service requests - not to take the order but to bring and set it up for you.

If there are any other queries, just reply to the post.

Thanks for your quick response. I appreciate the info. We are very excited about this suite experience. So glad to have access to cruise critic cruisers for insight and hints on these questions.

That is great that you were upgraded! We love the sky suites. The size of the cabin alone is wonderful- plenty of storage and closet space. A "normal" sized bathroom and even a bath tub, which my DH loves. Of course you get priority boarding and should get additional cruise credits-however on one of our cruises because it was last minute we weren't eligible for the additional credit-

Our butler was wonderful- he had prepared beautiful breakfast for us on the blacony (which is also larger that a standard cabin) complete with a white table cloth and all of the trimmings. And of course now the new suite only restaurant.

You do not have access as said above to Michael's which is also wonderful but for Celebrity Suites and above only. Or the top tiered Celebrity members-

Only one problem, when you have a suite, not easy to go back to AQ or a regular cabin! We do of course as the price can really vary. So we "suffer" sometimes.

Enjoy your cruise- very exciting to be a suite virgin! LOL

I am also in a first time Sky Suite with questions. Do you call in room service and they contact him to bring it?

Also, I notice I get one free specialty restaurant. I want to make sure it is used for a specific restaurant vs another. Would I need to let them know when I book it?

Thank you

The free speciality restaurant reservation can only be made when you are on board. Don't worry, space is saved for the suite guests.

The only cruise credit you received is for the cabin category you paid for before the upgrade.

In my DH and my case, we paid a reduced amount about two weeks before the cruise about $700 and we were told we would not be given the suite points. I of course complained all the way to corporate and didn't get the points. Last cruise, upgraded for $400 two days before the cruise and did! So it isn't always given. if a free upgrade, I understand

Seems like I had heard while on a previous cruise that there were reserved seats for suites in the theater. Does anyone know if this is true or was it just a false rumor?

Karon

Only on formal nights, and you have to arrive 10 or 15 minutes prior to start time, at which time the reserved seats are released for use by all.

Your butler will let you know the process, and provide you with an invite/ticket to use for access.

If you arrive closer than 10 minutes to start, you will have to find your own seating anywhere.

I had already paid in full for Aqua Class and Celebrity dropped the Sky Suite rate to less than what I had paid for Aqua. Wouldn't let me get the discount, but moved me to the sky suite. So even though I ended up paying more for the cabin than new bookings for the sky suites, only gave me credit for Aqua because that was the category of my original booking. Called and complained, talk to the hand............!

AS FOR POINTS;

we will never ever achieve Zenith status. So points mean nothing to us. We are presently Elite Plus. But since we paid for our upgrade, I would have thought we'd received points due for a suite room. While our upgrade was very reasonably priced, it certainly was not a free upgrade.

REF: tips

We had originally booked this cruise and received the 1-2-3 all inclusive promo at the time of booking. So the extra tips cost was $38.50 per person and was included in the 1-2-3 promo. We were not charged the extra $38.50 for tips. I would guess if we did not have that particular promo, we would have paid the $38.50 each for upgrading to the suite.

cle-guy:

Appreciate the info on the theater seats. I was curious and glad to hear that we will have seats on those nights without going 30-45 minutes before the show to find a seat.

You should get the points for the Sky suite. We have just reached E+ but with what we have booked we will be around 1500 by Mar 17. I would probably expect to reach 3000 over 5 or 6 years

We were told to arrive when the theater opened because they only held those seats until 20 minutes before show time. I know others have reported different cutoff times, but that was my experience, which like all things on Celebrity seems to differ from ship-to-ship and sailing-to-sailing. You'll know for sure when you receive instructions from your butler. It's part of his spiel when you meet him.

The reserved seats were two rows in the center section, so it's possible that those could all be taken if you try to arrive right before the designated cutoff time. However, the sightlines in all of these theaters are not bad and I've never had a problem securing a fine seat 5 minutes before show time, so I'm not sure this reserved seating thing is a real advantage. And as mentioned, this is only on formal night--not for any of the other shows.

I totally agree. I've never used the priority seating as I think any seat is good, and rather sit with new friends and arrive near last minute having another at Martini before sitting.

But some do enjoy this, so I see no harm in it being offered either.

Yes. However the seats were about half way down in the theatre, in the orchestra level and off to the left on our last cruise and the one before that in the balcony area of the theatre- so if you arrive early and like to sit closer to the stage- that works better for many. On formal night, you get escorted to a reserved seat by your butler who is waiting in the theatre for you. He will give you instructions prior to formal night.

As previously stated they only hold the seats for about 10 minutes before the show and then the ropes are removed and anybody can sit in the seats.

Similiar to my complaint, except I paid more for the move! So if you pay more one would expect to get all of the perks. We are Elite plus, and while we do cruise often, we mix between Celebrity and Royal so I do not know if I will ever reach the top tier at celebrity as we do not always sail in suites. Would be nice to have another tier level at 1500 with additional perks.
