We occasionally move towels off a couple of chairs and sit down. If the person who put the towels there returns, we look at him angelically and reply, "what towels? The chair didn't have any towels on it when we sat down" Usually, the chair saver doesn't even return while we're there so we simply put the towels back on the chair before we leave. Problem is a lot of people, when leaving for the day, just get up and leave. The next person who comes along doesn't know if the chair is occupied are the people just left the towel. So, you'll stretch out on the lounger, arrange your towel, book, drink etc? What do you do with the other peoples flip flops, towel, books etc? My DW did get mad at me when there was a shopping special going on well over a hour people vanished and left all there crap behind. So I recruited my DS to help me move two chairs from one area to another area when the people came back they looked like they could not remember where they parked there car. Other lines like celebrity has huge piles of freshly laundered towels at all times. You can take two,three or ten. People just get up and leave their towels. I laugh to myself and remove a bunch and stack it all on one. Then I go to the pool bar and wait. while I am sipping a drink I watching all the angry hogs fight over one apple its hilarious. How juvenile. And the use of the 'yellow cards' is something that maybe the cruise staff should do, but not passengers.... It just leads to a potentially unnecessary confrontation. I am of the school of you snooze, you lose. If I get chairs early, I am entitled to use them and also get up and walk away whether to get a bite to eat for breakfast/lunch, a lemonade, use the ropes course, take a dip in the pool/hot tub and not worry that some wise guy moved my belongings. Using Breakaway as my point of reference, the fact of the matter is that there are plenty of chairs if you do not need to be right around the (very small) pools. My wife and I stayed 5 nights at the Bellagio hotel in Vegas the week after labor day. We spent two days at the pool(s). Pools opened at 8:00am, we headed down at 8:30am it was a sea of white towels with no bodies. However the pool staff really enforced the 30 minute rule. We found two loungers in a not great location, but within 30-45 minutes the pool staff was going around collecting towels from every lounger that did not have a person sitting on it. Now I know you will say it can't be done but it most certainly is done that way at many resort hotels. Especially in Miami. Lol They escort you to the loungers and expect a tip of course lol but I don't overtip so the dsc is fine IMHO. This method could be used for the high real estate loungers. They loungers in the far off suburbs are usually always available anyway so no need to utilize this method there. But...NCL won't hire a pool attendant that could literally save lives. I therefore contend that NCL might not be open to the idea of lounge chair concierge. Unless, of course there was a fee. Lol At final payment you could reserve loungers for you cabin pax in a particular spot for a particular time frame on particular days For a fee of course.... They could even have a pricing schedule....sea day price....port day price....just like the spa!!! We all know how competent the NCL IT department is and how quickly they write programs and update their websites ....so no problem there of course. 🙀 And we all know how thoroughly Ncl thinks out their changes...oops...I mean "enhancements" and personally I think the whole idea of reserving loungers would certainly be for our "convenience". Lol In all seriousness....something like I describe could certainly help and be efficient....unfortunately Ncl would not be able to pull it off properly...if at all.... Jerseygirl1416 Posted October 18, 2015 #100 Share Posted October 18, 2015 On a recent RCCL Oasis cruise, they had an attendant that would show up at the beach pool each morning when the towel station opened up. He had a clip board and would time chairs with towels and no occupants. If nobody showed by with in 30 minutes he would remove their belongings and ask a near by cruiser to witness what he was removing. He stayed until 10:30 each morning. It didn't totally cure the chair hog problem but it definitely ended the problem of the people who wake up very early, place their and others towels and then leave and show up hours later.
