Hampton Inn Coconut Grove/Coral Gables

southwardbound

Recommended Posts

Our family is a first time cruiser and will be departing in April of 2006. We have looked into staying at the Hampton Inn Miami-Coconut Grove/ Coral Gables. It has good reviews from the Trip Advisor. I am just wondering how far it is from Miami port of calland itf it is a safe area. We will be traveling from FLL(our plane gets in around 11:30am) and heading to Miami, staying overnight to join our cruise the next day. I appreciate your ideas.:)

Well Coconut Grove and Coral Gables are both very nice areas, IF you actually stay IN those areas, BUT this hotel is not in Coral Gables, and is on the edge of the bad part of Coconut Grove. There's not really anything around it, and there's no way you can safely walk to the good part of Coconut Grove from there. I guess it would be okay if you have a car, but if you don't, I would recommend you stay in another area. It's about a 15-20 minute drive to the Port of Miami.
