rbflyer Posted October 5, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2015 First time sailing on Carnival. Will be on the Conquest in 8 days. What are the choices where to eat lunch once we board? Is the buffet the only option.

mousey Posted October 5, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Yep the MDR will be closed until dinner time. Most of the other venues will be open but not all of them. The buffet and pizza station are your best bets.
gadan1 Posted October 5, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Everything on Lido will be open: the regular buffet (check out both lines; there's a regular one and a comfort kitchen one; they have different options. A menu is usually posted next to the plates), pizza, deli, Guy's Burgers, the Blue Iguana Cantina (burritos and tacos), and the Fish & Chips up the stairs on 10. antique sailor Posted October 5, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 5, 2015 AHOY SHIPMATES, 23 TIMES ON CARNIVAL and when I go aboard I head to the LIDO for the MONGOLIAN WOK. IMHO IT IS THE BEST MEAL ON THE SHIP.(if you like Asian food) It opens at 1130 on first day and NOON on other days including in port days. SEA YA ENJOY It is rather spicy so ask for "medium" the first time.

kelkel2 Posted October 7, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Guys burgers are always my favorite first meal on a ship that has it! Looks like your ship does. I would head there first!

TerReuv Posted October 7, 2015 #16 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Fish 'n Chips is great! You just have to look for it. Upstairs from the buffet.
berrieh Posted October 7, 2015 #17 Share Posted October 7, 2015 Fish 'n Chips is great! You just have to look for it. Upstairs from the buffet. I always recommend this the first day (or pasta on the Dream class) because people don't find it yet so it's nice and chill usually!

funinthesun1964 Posted October 8, 2015 #19 Share Posted October 8, 2015 Neither. Dining rooms are closed for lunch on embarkation day. I think the poster you quoted was being facetious ;)
cb at sea Posted October 8, 2015 #20 Share Posted October 8, 2015 We eat a late breakfast so we don't have to join into the feeding frenzy.
tiger belle Posted October 14, 2015 #21 Share Posted October 14, 2015 glad I'm not the only one who would use "feeding frenzy" to describe lunch on embarkation day...I hate going to the buffet then...how crowded are Guy's and Blue Iguana on embarkation day? is there separate seating or is it all the same for any food on Lido?
SadieN Posted October 14, 2015 #22 Share Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) They're both located outside by the pool. So seating is where you can find it. Could always bring it upstairs where the fish and chips place is. First day it's rare to have a crowd up there. wantocruisemore Posted October 15, 2015 #23 Share Posted October 15, 2015 My husband loves Guys Burgers at 1st lunch. He not only loves the food but the comments from passers by wanting to know where he got that when he winds around for a table. I like fish n chips of Mongolian wok. A&Jfamily Posted October 15, 2015 #25 Share Posted October 15, 2015 DH and I second the idea of Guy's - my husband is in LOVE with these burgers. And, because they are easily portable, you can grab it, hit the fixins station and then find a spot anywhere. In my experience, people do not tend to find the back of the ship (usually outside) at least for the first few meals and if you are willing to navigate the herd to get there, you will find a nice place to sit.
