twins_to_alaska Posted November 22, 2015 #401 Share Posted November 22, 2015 Your sister doesn't need to bother with bringing a glass container to brew her tea. Ask the butler for one of the glass carafes that the guests in Aqua class get for their daily teas. Then your sister can brew her own. Thank you for that tip!! Project_gal Posted November 22, 2015 #402 Share Posted November 22, 2015 I think the comparison between a Royal and Penthouse Suite is about the same as Sky/Celebrity. The only difference in perks I can see is that the PH has a piano. Why pay the difference unless you are a performing artist and need the practice? :D Where on earth would we put the box of chocolates without the piano? vulcan1971 Posted November 22, 2015 #403 Share Posted November 22, 2015 They have't removed any perks. There are still going to be two specialty restaurants, if you under utilized the concierge, what difference will more people make? If MC wasn't crowded, what then more people will be fine. What have they ripped you off for? They've taken away nothing, just missed listing something in ONE place. Not everything on the website is correct, for example, this still says that Sky Suites are excluded from MC: https://www.celebritycruises.co.uk/learn/accommodation/suite-class It will all be sorted out, until then, shoot first, aim later. Happy sailing, Jenna Jenna - always great to see you on line and thanks for breaking/sharing the information. I have just started my read-through of all the accumulated pages in this thread. You are correct about one thing.... there is lots of misinformation being put out by Celebrity because all of their various websites and sources are NOT IN ALIGNMENT. If you read to the end of the link you provided in the post I am quoted (the UK website link), it says that access to Michael's Club happens in December 2016 even though it says January 2016 on the US website. vulcan1971 Posted November 22, 2015 #404 Share Posted November 22, 2015 But surely it is not just level of service [which Celebrity may well be able to address by increasing staffing] but that walls are not elastic. On our Millennium cruise the room was packed [with more people squeezed onto the banquet than they designed for] every evening. The room could not have accommodated more people. On our Eclipse cruise, people had to stand on many evenings. Hi Sue - I'm one of those folks that prefer to stand (vs. sitting) when I am in social settings. It's easier to move between groups and meet more people that you socialize with. I will be happy to give up my seat to anyone that needs it. ;)

Sitting means you are conversing with the same 3 people and not mingling and keeping others out. I've sailed with a group who when they have their meet and mingle gatherings, actually turn all the chairs backwards so they aren't open for seating, so people naturally mix and mingle. Seating is closed and unfriendly. Standing is open and friendly.
vulcan1971 Posted November 22, 2015 #406 Share Posted November 22, 2015 We don't know that the "New seating in Suite Bathrooms" means a new toilet, now do we? Perhaps they have placed a nice lounge chair in there so our partner may sit and chat us up while we handle business? Inquiring minds want to know! :D :D  :p OMG!!! Yeah, sure that was a typo, that should have been December 15, like the Summit start date for the new suite life benefits that kept having the wrong year. Seems like a symptom of copy in multiple places, edited by multiple people. They need s good cloud service and someone with some IT savy (in marketing, just just IT) to be willing to commit to clearing this up. Alas, we know this is not likely to happen quickly. Good to see yo back. Happy thanksgiving. Happy sailing, Jenna

actuarian Posted November 22, 2015 #411 Share Posted November 22, 2015 It seems the structure that Celebrity now has with Sky Suites getting MC looks is on par with RCCL. Aqua=junior suite. SS and CS=Standard suite. RS, PH and Reflection Suite=Top end suites. That is only true if the perks are the primary consideration in selecting a room on the ship. However, size does matter. Comparing Celebrity S-class with RCCL Oasis using size, you get a different mapping. Aqua = 194 square feet, only 12 more than an ordinary 182 foot balcony room on RCCL and certainly not comparable to a 287 sq ft JS on RCCL. In fact, a 300 sq ft Celebrity SS is only 13 sq ft larger than the RCCL JS (and a 251 sq ft SS on M-class is smaller than most RCCL JSs). However, there are almost no perks included with an RCCL JS (except pre-boarding; JSs will start getting more perks next spring on some RCCL ships but not on all). On RCCL suite perks start with a 371 sq ft GS and 88 of the 2742 rooms on the Oasis (3.2%) have suite perks. On X, suite perks start with a 300 sq ft SS and 66 of the 1425 rooms on the Solstice (4.6%) have suite perks. So, percentage wise, Suite perks are more common on X than on RCCL. However, if size is the consideration, there are only 22 rooms on the Solstice (1.5%) that are as large as the smallest room on the Oasis that comes with suite perks. Large size rooms are more common on RCCL but perks are more common on X. That is especially true if you consider that Aqua class and Concierge Class also have some perks (more than an RCCL JS has). That means that 471 or 33.1% of the rooms on the Solstice come with more perks than an RCCL JS comes with.

Karynanne Posted November 22, 2015 #413 Share Posted November 22, 2015 I know many people who have mobility issues, so standing during social occasions is not an option. I would never equate sitting with being unfriendly. Nor would I. I consider myself to be a very social person, and when standing, people tend to move from one person to another rapidly, and in a sitting situation, the conversations have more depth to them. JMHO. CHEZMARYLOU Posted November 22, 2015 #415 Share Posted November 22, 2015 (edited) I don't have a mobility issue but I do have an issue with standing for long periods, or even shorter periods if I have spent a very active day. I know my limitations and if I did not find a seat in MC, or any venue for that matter, I would leave in short order. vtcruising Posted November 26, 2015 #421 Share Posted November 26, 2015 Thanks for posting! This helps clarify things. Sounds like the CS's receive a few extra benefits, which is nice since there is usually is a big cost difference. It sounds like they are trying to cover the bases and maintain the wonderful MC experience. Time will tell - will expect a few bumps in the road, which hopefully Celebrity will make adjustments as needed.
Rare chemmo Posted November 26, 2015 #422 Share Posted November 26, 2015 It clarifies a few points. Things like the Champagne afternoon tea could easily be held in Murano's, I am sure there are lots of other venues that could be 'alternative Michael's Club venues if large numbers were expected. Rare Beamafar Posted November 26, 2015 #425 Share Posted November 26, 2015 Very helpful I thought so, too. Judging by the responses, others feel the same way. I'm sailing for the first time with Celebrity in January in a Sky Suite. With Michael's Club access being rolled out to SS guests it hadn't been clear what elements were included. It's good to know what to expect. I received this information when trying to elicit confirmation of our complimentary 2 speciality restaurant dinners being honoured. Instead, I got a lot of marketing material re the new suite benefits
