lysolqn Posted October 1, 2005 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2005 We've been to Hawaii on a land vacation but this will be our first cruise there. Are there cabbies offering their services at the cruise ship docks in Hawaii just as there are in virtually every other port we've even sailed into? If so, would it be wise to step off the ship and negotiate a several hour "highlights" tour at each of our stops?
Middleager Posted October 1, 2005 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2005 In Hilo and Kauai we docked. When you get off the ship you go to a big warehouse like building and only tour companies are allowed in their with signs to pick up passengers. Rental car companies may have people with signs, or just wait outside. I heard of people walking out and hire local taxis in Hilo. In Lahaina and Kona you tender to shore and walk into town. There are many taxis waiting to pick up pasengers. In Kauai, there weren't many taxis. So yes you can take you chance and see if there would be one available by the time you get there. We rented van at every location by booking ahead of time.
