Pam in CA Posted November 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Is Princess requiring payment when we reserve excursions?Your choice. You can pre-pay when you reserve or if you don't pre-pay, the cost will be added to your onboard folio to be paid at the end of your cruise. likeadisguise Posted November 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 18, 2015 2016 Alaska cruises out of San Francisco require prepayment for shore excursions. All Alaska cruise tours require prepayment for land excursions.

All Alaska cruise tours require prepayment for land excursions. I'm not sure how I feel about that . . while it would be nice to have the payment out of the way early, what if I change my mind. I feel like their current cancellation policy is confusing.
rob2102 Posted November 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted November 18, 2015 No they can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance and you will not be billed for it.

I feel like their current cancellation policy is confusing. And if you do pay in advance and change your mind, they will refund your money very quickly. We had an excursion planned for next month in Cozumel. After reflecting we decided we wanted to do our own thing and I went into the personalizer and cancelled the excursion. By 5pm the next day that money was back in my account.
partybarbie Posted November 18, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Unless I can use my shipboard credits, I refuse to prepay for shore excursions, or tips, in advance of the cruise. I guess that means that I might miss out on an excursion that I want, or I might have to pay a higher price for waiting to book an excursion on the ship. IMHO, this is another blatant attempt by Carnival Corp. to extort monies from passengers in advance of the cruise. They have the use of your money, and you aren't able to use shipboard credits (many of which are non-refundable if not used on the cruise) to purchase your shore excursions.

We are going with P & O (another Carnival company). They want prepayment. Have so much obc that will wait until onboard before booking any. TravelingEA Posted November 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted November 18, 2015 We are going on an Alaska Cruise on May. We have an excursion booked, but were not required to pay for it.
dennbr9 Posted November 18, 2015 #11 Share Posted November 18, 2015 Celebrity also requires prepayment.
Magellan321 Posted November 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Celebrity also requires prepayment. And Royal Caribbean! So far the only excursions Princess has asked for prepayment in on a select number of AK cruises. Thankfully, Princess still has an easy cancellation policy on excursions:). OCruisers Posted November 19, 2015 #13 Share Posted November 19, 2015 Gosh, hope Princess does not go to required pre-pay for excursions!
dennbr9 Posted November 19, 2015 #14 Share Posted November 19, 2015 RCI lines ( Celebrity / Royal Carib) have done it with pre-pay for years. Likely that it is just on select Cruises with Princess. Would not worry about it until and if it happens.
